Got it finished up for now. Just need to blast it and paint it. I'm going to weld tabs and skin most of it but don't have the cash right now.

this is only a 33, but it should fit up to a true 39 depending on the rim backspacing

looks awesome... i miss gettin to do the "fun"  fab stuff.  Lately im stuck just trying to get my truck working properly so its somewhat reliable.

If you run it outward like you had it mocked up earlier you can haul just about a full bed worth of gear huh? Good job man.

i tried to dream up a new way of doing my pivot bushings...and basically... it didnt  really work. and also on 3rd gens youv gotta drill holes to mount it. the stock tail gate doesnt have teh hinge on the bottom like first and second gens.

It is higher than the last, but that's to be able to fit a 38" and still be able to open with the gate flipped around.

I got to go to Surf N Turf this year, had a lot of fun but didn't get too many pictures. The Central Valley Crawlers worked checkpoint 3 for the poker run:

The truck did okay. I broke my fan shroud, really really need bump stops in the front and longer shocks and hoops. Going to the dunes made me want to swap the motor even more than i did before. I grabbed some video of rigs jumping but I need to figure out how to splice them all together.

Also got a cage put in, and a little more trimming on the bed

lookin good... I missed surf n turf this year, and sadly im right here in slo...  The poker run was a blast last year but my truck always screws up in the sand...think its a carb issue.  I hear you on the motor swap thoughts, i think about it every time im in the dunes and every time im driving over cuesta grade on the way home.

Thanks guys. Yeah surf n turf was fun, I had never been before and on top of that had never been out to the dunes either. Didn't have to get strapped at all but I had to take a couple runs at some of the hills but got them eventually. I'm looking forward to next year and hopefully i'll be able to make it out then as well.

Got inspiration from 82juguete's progress on his cab work and started thinking about mine again. I've found 1 cab in trade for making some half doors so i'm closer than I thought i'd be. Here's a photochop of what i'm going to try to accomplish

I like it! What would you use for a door? Customize a stock yota door?

Yeah, that's the plan. I've got a lot of door pieces left over from a couple half door sets

I like the way it looks but why have glass in the rear door when you have half doors in front???  :dunno: well if it rolls down then I guess it wouldn't matter, any ways its freakin sweet!

Thats the way i SHOULD do mine... but im lazy.  Yours will be sweet, with your caliber of bodywork, etc.  Glad i could inspire, now i just hope i can deliver lol.

You a graphics major by any chance?  I like the rendering and would've fell for it if the door gaps werent so perfect, but awesome job!

Thanks. You'll be done way before me so I'll be taking notes on your build  I do ad layouts for a local publication, and graphics & logo work when needed. Most graphics stuff I just do for fun or for the club i'm in, t-shirts & stickers.

I'm going to shoot for functioning windows, I just shopped it with full doors so i didn't have to show an interior. When it's all done i'll probably make some nice tube doors for all 4

Thanks, I'm not sure what brand cage it is, I picked it up chopped to pieces from a local guy

your gonna have to put an extension on the cage
After it's all done it will get a new cage

Here's another quick chop, i'm trying to figure out how to get a functioning door jam all the way around only using one cab. The one I found is also an xtra cab and I don't want to keep the tall side windows so i'll have to chop that section out and move the original rear jam back in it's place. I'm also planning on getting rid of the vent at the rear door too and not sure how to accomplish that either. I guess when I pick up the cab and start cutting we'll see how things go.
