ok, now that I am on a computer that I can type on. Got stuck in this hole, I was still in 2wd. In a camp about a 100 yds back I saw that there was a ferd. So I hiked back to see if they could pull me out, but no one was there.
So I stood on the front drivers tire to turn in that hub, and asked my wife is she could turn in the pass hub.... Since she was already wet up to her waist. She jumped in and was up to her mid-torso. And I guess that it really dropped off right there because she had to go eyeball deep to reach the hub and turn it in. Tried to back out and got it moved about a foot, but the motor was sucking too much water to get any power to spin the tires. Right them a surburban came along. And I thought GREAT. If anyone was going to pull me out, this would be the one. EXCEPT for the stupid french guy that was driving it. I hooken up the straps for him and he let it idle till the straps were tight. Then he yelled "it's impossible!" He didn't even give it any gas. NONE.So I told him to try again, but this time with a little gas. But he just kept yelling "It's impossible, it's impossibe."
Stupid french people. No wonder Germany ran over them..... twice.
Anyway, by this time the motor had died because the distributer was full of water.
A new rubi and a CJ hooked togeather to winch me out. I pulled the plugs, cleaned out the distributer and air cleaner (not completly sealed), used half a can of wd 40 and we were on the way back home.
At home I drained the t case, crawl box and tranny and both diffs and got about a gallon of water. Motor oil looks good, but I'll change it anyway later this week just to be safe.

Looks like you were taking the fun way through the mudhole and it got a little deeper than you expected!!!  Sweet pics

Here is a pic of my stock truck in a mudhole.  It died and I had to be pulled out.  It only took 1 Yota to pull me out!!  I was going pretty fast through it and the got into my engine.  I am going to get a snorkel.  Could you post pics of your snorkel.  I was lucky that I didn't hydro lock my engine.

notajeep

That hole looks familiar.... Where is that at?
I'll get some pics up of my snorkel, but bassically it is just 2" black PVC with several flex joints and then just a cone filter that you can see in the pics. It works pretty well I guess.... But I should really seal the distributer better.... That seems to cause most of my water related problems.

Those pics. were taken at the trailhead to Pikipksi(dont know how to spell) which is halfway up engineer pass.  Engineer pass starts out of Ouray, CO a couple of miles.  Engineer is only a 3 out of 5 but it was a fun trail.  When we saw this we had to take a detour.

That is a great area to wheel.  Did you do Blackbear?

You may have noticed a "road" spur on engineer pass that looked like a motorcycle might make it (it is loose steep and long, there are two routes straght and to the right), my dad drove his stock 71 Blazer up that years ago with highway tread tires.  He still has nightmares about his stupidity.

No I have never been on blackbear.  I would want to get at least 33's before I went up that, and perhaps bob my bed.  There are just so many sharp corners.

I drove my truck over with 32 inch tires and a full bed and only had to back twice on one corner and once on several others.  The road itself isn't usually too bad, it is the extreme narrowness that scares people.  I grew up going over it in stock Blazers (back in the day you could climb the backside) and have followed a tour Suburban down and I know they also run Hummers as well.

There are a couple of "tricky" sections, but many stock rigs can handle it.  It has "scare" factor due to the narrow shelf road.  Many people don't enjoy hanging their nose out over a cliff before backing up to make it around corners, it is no joke that a mistake equals death.  If you have not wheeled at high elevation with a carb truck you haven't lived.
