sounds like for now you can get by with the ifs, just take it slower on the trails and dont romp on the gas and u'll be fine.

when you get some money though, start looking around at carparts.com or at local junkyards for a 14 bolt full floater rear axle from a 4x4 chevy. my suburban just blew an axle bearing in my stock 10 bolt rear axle (what you have if your truck is a 1500) with no warning, axle shaft was nearly snapped, 1/2" of thickness left compared to about 1 3/4" thickness originally, not good. i've found 6 here in texas within 300 miles of where i live for under 500 bucks each, very common and very strong axles.

is your truck wandering back and forth on the road left/right? if thats it then sounds like some worn out steering parts. tie rod ends, idler arm maybe. what size tires you gonna put on?

sounds like a worn out idler arm, no biggy. if you take your truck to a shop have them inspect the entire front end. i used to work at sears and we would charge 15 bucks to inspect the steering/front suspension (here in texas, might be more there in cali). they will check your ball joints, see if your wheel bearings are shot, check all of your steering linkage, and let you know if they see anything else there.

It aint that far of a drive! I like the truck as well why are you going with pro comps instead of something else? Just curious.
