not my pet, but a BIG ARSE FROG!

yummy  frog legs

Lady Di

our latest unofficial pet.

Seems this little guy has holed up in our front hall closet!     It's so cute, and it seems it doesn't care about the dogs any more then they care about him.
Mark caught him (and another coming in the doggie door from outside) on the security webcam last night. It was then that we realized one was coming from IN the house and not from the outside.

I peeked in on him a little while ago, he's probably about 6-8" long from nose to butt and doesn't seem to mind much us peeking in on him but I'm not about to try petting him.

I'm going to love him and pet him and call him george... :haha: ... until we can get a humane trap to relocate him.

Yeah, I know it's crazy, but we always seem to attract weird critters!
One year we put a little kiddie pool out for Tinydog, he loves the water, well a tree frog laid eggs in the pool and I spent the entire summer feeding tree frog tadpoles fish food, and then floating wood on the pool when they became little teeny frogs. It was so cool. there were hundreds of them.

Yeah here at work I seem to have become the animal control officer.  Everytime some strange animal shows up I am on duty.  Skunks, bats, cats, mole, a goat, and seven horses one time.  That was fun.  My fellow officers made me a goat patrol sticker for my locker after the goat.    :rofl2:

We read on http://www.opossum.org that you can get more diseases from dogs or cats then from possums.

RABBITS!!! You're a pip!

You can go through life being scared of the possible, or you can have a little fun and tease the inevitable.

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!

yes, but what I have been reading about them they are not aggressive unless confronted. I just walked in the kitchen on one of them and it scooted out the door so fast I hardly knew it was there.

It's not a rodent, it's a marsupial. Same as kangaroo's, they carry their babies in a pocket.

Johnny agrees whole-heartedly!
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

and check this out...

Opossums are more resistant to rabies than any other mammal; cattle, goats, dogs, cats, sheep, and the ice cream man are far more susceptible to rabies! They are far less of a health risk to you or your children or pets than nearly any other wild animal. By eliminating the opossums, you may create a niche that will be filled by a less desirable species. Rabies and viral diseases (e.g., distemper) are practically unheard of in the opossum.

They are exceptionally non-aggressive and non-destructive. They will not dig up your lawn, chew wood or wires, or create burrows. They do not "attack" anything that is not a food source, and is not threatening them. If you keep prey animals such as birds, rodents, or rabbits, you must keep them secure in their enclosures from any wild animal. Adult cats and adult opossums generally get along together, or ignore one another. Dogs are a serious threat to opossums, but not vice versa.

Opossums regularly consume insects, snails, worms, rats, mice, and carrion. They can actually help keep your yard free of these pests.

We had some raccoons that would come into our house and eat the cat food ( not sure why we even had a cat :headscratch:) but one night a big one was sitting there in the kitchen eatin away, I tried to scare him out but he wouldn't budge, ended up sliding him to the back door with my foot to get him out. The whole time he just looked up at me like I was on crack!!!
I don't need a winch, I wheel a TOYOTA!!!!!!!
