I know. :gay:
Here is the dilemma. :dunno:  37s don't seem to be that much bigger IMO and the new consensus seems to be Longfields are breaking with tires in the 38, 39, 40 range.  Predicting the future: I'll run the gay 35s for a while, upgrade to something that will snap a Longfiled (38 Pit Bull) and end up going with D60s and then even bigger tires.   :ha_ha:

How did I just now find this thread?  Awesome Job Jim! Not afraid to wheel it!

Hate to say it but my baby is still dent free :(  This summer should change that im sure.

Longs don't usually break with anything under a 40.  I am running 38" TSL's with the old 27 spline longs and I haven't broken anything.

I prefer to crawl but I'll rocket up something in a heartbeat.
I'm going yota JUST so I can buy from Marlin more.

You need to take a long trip out to the Hammers. :yesnod: Traction + really big rocks wreak havoc on drivetrains. 4DEES broke his 30 splines recently on 38.5 TSLs. A heavy/big tire will break Toyota components in the right conditions. :shudder: It just so happens those conditions are 45 minutes away. :driving:

I don't have any recent pictures, but Zukizzy trimmed the rear body mounts and fabbed up a nice rear cross member with a receiver from my old rear bumper. It looks like the tailgate will be around 26" in length. The fiberglass bedsides will be really short. And yes the 35s will look  :gay: for the night run on July 28th :crossed: Maybe I will wear a pink shirt for the occasion :shudder:

He just broke his hub gear. He finally tore it apart to look. I have been running 38's for over 2 years on my Longs and haven't broke them.

I read that false alarm. I know I need to upgrade to a bigger tire, but I am waivering on going with 60s at the same time.  :dunno:

Very cool!  8) Look for a copper colored YJ in the stock-mod class sponsored by ProComp. I hope they don't have issues with their front axle as has happened in the past. :crossed:

Here is the old paint from last season:

I have a "source" now working on obtaining more than one set. Zukizzy needs a front 60 in a bad way. :shudder:

No, at the werock womens event in january. I threw together another temporary HP d44 till I can get a 60. At donner we just rolled several time very hard. One was wheels to wheels and I kept trying every line line. Never did make it work. I hit so hard it bent a PRP high back about 4".

We will be back to work on it this Sunday.  :flamer: I was in NYC and Boston and Zukizzy competed at Donner so no time for the Runner.  :_oops:

Here is the weekend update. We start with the 26" tailgate.  :yesnod: 26" was selected as it would allow the corners of the taillights to be just inside the frame rails. The problem (that Zukizzy of course solved) was the fact the hinges ended up overlapping. Zukizzy relocated them, but it involved a lot of work.  :smack:

We added the fiberglass taillight buckets. This step involved fabricating a steel support for each side along with locations for the tailgate latches.  8)

I'm a little slow tonight. Here comes the the rest of the progress. ;)

Here is the 26" passenger side (we didn't plan it to be the same size as the tailgate  :gap:) . It turned out the fiberglass must have had some Kevlar in it. When we ran it through the bansaw, we got a few sparks. :psss:

Here is the driver's side. The plan is to mold in some more fiberglass to fill in the voids, then after the Hammers run, I'll take into the body shop to make it pretty.
