exo is the way to go :yesnod:. How well does that poly performance co2 set up work and how much did it cost? Im woundering if buying an overpriced powertank is worth it.
Luckily I have a buddy in the fire extinguisher business who got the tank for me for free. The Poly Performance regulator was around $75 and their tank bracket was $30ish. $10 bucks for the Home Depot hose and chuck. $5 for the primer and paint.  :psss: From what I have read, the regulator and the bracket can be had for a lot less at a fire extinguisher shop. If you don't mind a heavy steel tank, Air Gas sells their used tanks fairly cheap and their refill price is reasonable. :twocents:

edit: You also asked how it works.  :smack: So far no problems.  :crossed: The regulator "ices up" a little bit on the 4th tire fill, but it doesn't slow down. I believe I can fill the four 35" tires a little bit faster (not much) than my friend Howard's York with an air tank. :therethere:

Are you gonna exo that thing anytime soon?
I hope so.  :crossed: Once I can free up some spare time and Zukizzy is ready to work his magic. :flamer:

BTW Jed, I picked up a spare tire and wheel that might just resemble your set.

Mine are long gone! I wish I could have kept them. They didn't go far. :)     I am making a little progress on mine but not much. Tomorrow I hope to fix the spring perches and do up the lower rear shock mounts  :crossed:   I talked to Troy and Joey. They really liked your front bumper.

My 4X Innovations tube doors needed their latches replaced.  I lost the passenger latch on the last Hammers trip and used a zip tie to keep it shut. :gap: The driver's latch would poke me if I leaned out  :shake_head: and would just decide to open on its own at some very inappropriate times :conf: :shakehead: :shake:.

Zukizzy came up with another great idea back when he was making tube doors for Samurais that uses the stock AISN latch.  I had a set of the Zukizzy doors on my old Sami and they worked great! You opened the door by depressing a small washer/button and you can slam the doors shut just like a regular door.

So the goal was to make the same latch work on my new doors. A few months back we found that the AISN latch used on the Sami is the same as the Toyota latch. Zukizzy figured out what could be cut off to make it work, yet remove the extras that were not needed (locks etc). He showed me what to remove, then we cut and welded a plate to the door. Finally a small washer was welded to finish the job. :flamer:

Jim I was totaly impressed by the tube doors from 4x inovations, even though I have a bender and can weld OK I would buy a set instead of making them for the price . Hope the drive home was OK, that thunder storm was pretty heavy for a while. As far as the latch goes it looks a bit big and bulky but it tucks away nicely when closed and the abilty to shut and open the door normaly plus the lack of rattles makes this somthing I think is worth doing. If you need better latches I have that set you can have or almost any Japanese import uses that latch including Suzuki sidekick/ tracker, all Geo cars except the storm, toyotas and nissans and more that I have not needed to look at cause there are so many of them.

Luckily, I beat the rain on the drive home. :clap2: Also, no problems at all with the passenger side latch (I trimmed a bit too much and hit a spring :nonono: ). Now that I know what to trim, I can pick up another latch if needed. :) Thanks again. 8)

Not much new to report. I did take a little run a few months back with my brother from Texas. He finally emailed some pics. :gap:

Check out the front plate. CHP says I have to have one up front, so here you go. :)

The Runner is getting a little "character" now after a couple of trips to the Hammers in the past few months. :) The January trip netted a few new scratches and I ripped the passenger side of the rear bumper off. A picture of the new mod is in the March issue of Crawl Magazine.

After the loss of the bumper we did another trip (two Jeeps and two Runners) in early March. I have mastered the art of cooking burritos on the manifold.  :gap:  Without the rear bumper, the sheet metal has taken a beating. :hammerhead: Time for an exo. :flamer:

Not yet, I am trying to get the steering box moved forward so I can install my hydro assist set up. I am installing my winch this weekend. The body and paint work start monday after work. Then the exo goes full force. I have all of the materials needed and a few tubes bent up.  I have a basic design (to be tweaked accordingly). I will post some pics of it when I get something worth showing!!  :)

 :)

So here is the plan. Following the Locktup body design, we cut it short with about 3" behind the rear seat for storage. There will be a small flat bed between the frame rails for storage. I really want to retain the full body look, so I have a set of fiberglass bedsides I picked up (you can see them on the rack in the background of the above picture) to somewhat cover the flat bed and dovetail it. I am also going to run a truck tailgate. Exo the whole rig and hopefully be ready for the Hammers night run in July. :driving:

The tailgate should be slightly narrower than this example:

It was funny about this time my wife came out and asked if we had been drinking again. The other side end cap is on and I started to trim the gate tonight.

That was funny. Maybe we inhaled a few too many toxic fumes from the burning under coating? :drooling:
