Friday Morning MCR4 Caravan

No set time yet.  I will be alone heading up there unless TEXXX can get that day off.  Mr. & Mrs. WillyMammoth and I are planning on heading into the trail together.  I don't know what time that will be yet.  We are still planning that out.  If you are planning on heading into the trail from friday morning to friday afternoon please respond here.  I know "over rev" plans on getting to Loon by 12:30 or so but i don't know when he plans on heading into the trail since he is going to setup his camp.

I'll PM Shamb to check on this thread too, we're looking at doing the caravan crawl to Loon Lake together. We'll be lucky to do 50mph with a tailwind going up inclines. I say the earlier we get started the better, even if we hang out at the trailhead and see who else shows. (can you tell I'm a little anxious to get started?)

I'll be leaving the Fresno area around 8 or 9 Fri morning .  I might head up Thrus night if you plan on hitting the trail any earlier than noon..

I will leave Fresno about 3pm (Fri) and will be on Highway 50 around 5:30 or so... I think I plan on going into the bowl or the far side of Loon to camp. I know the Begining of Loon at the dam will be packed and I dont want to get stuck in there hahaha

I know of a camp site just on the other side of the bowl. At the top of the granite there, stay to the right and you will eventually run into Loon lake again. If the Mosquitoes aren't so bad, I think I will camp there the first night, and then jam all the way to the Springs on Sat.

I don't know how early we will be at Loon but it sounds like the earlier the better. Where is this Robb's Resort? Sounds like it might be a good place to meet up.
I was hoping to camp at spider Friday night. How long does it take to get there from Loon Lake? Can you make it all the way to the Spring in one day? Or is that a haul?

I'll be up early, waking up at 06:30-0700 is sleeping in for me. I'm waking up my crew early wether they like it or not, so we can eat and get on the trail early.

We're planning on driving up from L.A. thurs. noon time and camping out there thurs. night. (tenatively) So we'll be  there already on Fri. morning.

From Loon Lake to Spider Lake Takes about 2-2 1/2 hours if you go at a steady pace.  But since a lot of you guys haven't been there and want to do some site seeing then it could take about 3-3 1/2 hours.  I have never been past Buck Island so i don't know how long it will take to get Rubicon Springs.  I am pretty sure if we leave by noon we could reach the springs by nightfall maybe earlier.  But camping at Spider is a choice too, or even buck Island we can camp at.  I have no preference of were we camp.

TEXXX, thats sweet you got the day off.  I moved to Rocklin yesterday with my dad.  But i will be spending the night somewere up in cool or georgetown thursday night before we leave.  I could prolly spend the night at James's house and then swing by your house Friday morning and we could go up together.

Last year we did the Springs to Loon in probably 6-7 hrs. with a lot of traffic coming out of the springs.

I am leaving sonoma as soon as I get home from school so about 12:30 then I am going straight up there and I want to sleep wherever the partys at.  I'm guesing I will stay by the little sluice of spider lake.  Hyena I cant believe you havent been past buck Island.  This weekend was my first time up there and we started from the tahoe side and did the whole thing backwards and there is some nasty back there.  espesially old sluice.  that half was MUCH more fun than from spider out.

I could jam in by myself to Spider, but depending on who or how many trucks will be in my group, someone might object to my pace. I think I will hit the trail head at about 10pm Friday night, and if it is just myself, I can EAISLY hit Spider by 1am.

I might just cruise with you big mike.  I too can make so quick time down the trail without jeeps in my way and I will probably end up getting there that late too. If you want to meet somewhere let me know.

I went from Spider to Loon in an hour and a half once.  I was the only truck in my group so i didn't have to wait ofr anyone.  The only place i put it in double low is gatekeeper.  The rest is was in either 4.7 low or just regular low.  It was pretty fun with no trucks in my way.  Only stopped once to take a piss.  So it is duable in a couple hours to Spider.

Hey Hyena, are you planning on adding some more damage to your rig in the sluice box again?

I want to run it on my way out. I'll come up behind it and pass it, then turn around and drive through it. But if I am gonna take on any body damage, I might just wimp out like a little lost puppy dog

I plan on running it again.  But if i have to run the stock birfs then it might be on the way out.  Unlessi get enough people to cheer me on then i will go for it.  If i break, o well, i will just camp at spider and fix it there.
