Yes I'm sure.

I figured it out several years ago when I bought some CS010R's  (still haven't installed them).

You can buy that extra leaf to make CS009Rs into CS010Rs, but it costs a lot more doing it that way.

The height increase for the CS010R over the CS009R is only like   1/4".      But  with a greater load.

Started the process of fixing and figuring out what she needs after Moab.
Removed the rear drive shaft to inspect for the cause of My rear output seal leaking all over.
Found no play in the rear output shaft. Drained both transfer cases. Plenty of fluid came out of both. Both case fluids looked clean with only a minor amounts of metal on the magnetic drain plugs. That's a good sign.  :willynilly:
Removed the flange to inspected the seal surface and what I could see of the rear output bearing. All looks good.
Ordered up a marlin rear output Eco seal. Going to order a new flange lock nut tomorrow at work.
Going to replace the output seal and reassemble. Then see what happens. I suspect the rear driveshaft vibration is what caused all the fluid to leak out. I Saw the 4Runner hit 80MPH on the return trip from Elephant Hill.  :yikes:
The rear driveshaft is a long spline with a double cardon joint at the t-case. Another item that was built with a trailer queen in mind.  :qtip:

Do you need the long travel splines in the rear?

Nope, but it came this way.
I would like to change the rear drive shaft at some point. I have the original driveshaft still. Who, what, where do I get the correct cv/double cardan joint from? I have been told that I just need to add one to the original driveshaft and then have the length corrected?
I am open to Help and info on this as I know it has been done many many times.

Pretty sure the cv needs to be clearenced which isn't bad. I used the cv off the rear of an ex cab but many people use the front and lenthen it. It is pretty easy

I took an extra CV front shaft from a 84-85 to fleetpride with the measurement of the length I needed and had him make me a new shaft with a much thicker wall at the same time. Worked a treat and was under $200 to have it done.

:)bestgen4runner

Is there a way to identify a 84-85 vs all the others?
I like Andrew's plan. sound easy and affordable.

I think any CV will work because the rear doesn't need to hit the angles like the front does.

I was told by Jesse at high angle you still need too on the later cv. There are times the whole rear droop and it can cause an issue

It would be a good idea to. Its super easy to do and its not hurting anything. It may not need it, but best not need to find out on the trail.

I had to go back through my build thread to confirm, but both of my driveshafts were built by Jesse.  I don't know what he used for the joints since I didn't send in any cores that I can remember.

The CV cage piece is a bit smaller diameter on the early one.  It's easy to tell though because the later one just doesn't droop that much.  It's limited enough that it is apparent to the naked eye.

I may have an extra early CV in the shed.  I could trade for more black death if you need one.

I think I am going to just go to one of the local wrecking yards and pull one out of a 3.0L 4runner. The wrecking yards are full of them around here. Then clearance it and do Andrew's plan.

Starting the first piece of a big puzzle to come.
I figured if I'm going to move the steering box forward I should rebuild it at the same time.

Picked up a brand new set of front springs from a fellow turtle at an incredible price. $180
They came as part of an SAS kit He purchase and installed. Unfortunately the front springs did not match the rear He ordered. Score for Me!
Got a short tour of his 4 Toyota's. A nice black bestgen sitting on 80 series axles (for a nice street rig), a tough crawler on 40s painted in old school Toyota sceem  (for serious rock crawling), an F toy buggy that is in process, and a very very old Toyota truck not sure I have seen one in person before today.
I hope He comes out to play with us sometime soon.
Another great experience of one turtle helping out another. Thank You :)
Side note ,He said that He did the round up last year just Him and his son.
Poor guy couldn't find anyone to go with Him out of state.
I mentioned the Wet Wheelers as a kick ass group of Wheelers that do an out of state run every year. Said He might just Give You a call SqWaDoosh. Not for this trip but a future run.

So you will do the sky springs next year?

They already passed step 1 of looking similar on the floor.

These springs will likely give him the opportunity to get t-case gears and more time to consider what he really wants for springs and tires in the future.

He might as well keep the ones he's got. Trail-gear springs are infamously 2-3" taller than advertised.

I've heard of alot of sagging issues with trailmart springs.
Time to go wheelin!

If they start too tall and then sag, maybe it's called "settling" for better marketing. It's a $180 gamble plus his time.

TG uses China products which means a higher volume of lower quality parts for the dollar, but not every spring wil perform poorly or nobody would buy their products. Hopefully, Chris will get lucky and have a set of springs that perform well for him. They are unlikely to match the long term quality of Alcan, Sky, or OME, but if he gets a few seasons out of them it'll be worth the $180.
