Just remember any wire you are splicing together should be soldered and then sealed in a piece of shrink tube that has hot glue on the inside.  Just remember to put one of the two wire connection thru the tube BEFORE you solder them...or you'll  feel like  :hammerhead:.. :yupyup:

I generally use solder, liquid tape, and then heat shrink.  It's a little overkill, but I'd rather do things once!!
