Retap it? Weld it shut and replace the two lower studs with bolts; pull the bolts to drain.

OH the hex pattern is stripped, I read it wrong and thought it was the treads. Yes, just use a hammer and a chisel and try to hit the chisel near the radius of the bolt so you can get the most amount of tangential torque to loosen it up and pull it out!

Thanks for the replys, already tryed the chisel and hammer, already tryed penitrating lube, already tried heating it up, already tried vice-grips and a BFH. I was thinking of welding another nut to it and than trying to break it loose, Ill try tonight when I get home. Anything else I should try first though?

I use a chisel tip in my air hammer at work all the time....Its a little overkill but always pops 'em loose.  Welding a nut to it will work too...  :flamer:

Try using a coupler nut if you can find one close to the right size. They're longer so your weld bead won't reduce the wrench area. Have the wrench handy and try while still hot from welding.
Cross threaded is tighter than Locktite

go with welding a nut on the plug and make sure that it is a big one so you can get good leverage with a wrench

Or just weld the socket to what's left of the plug.  Then, provided it was Craftsman, grind it off and take it back to Sears for a replacement  :_oops:

I usually weld a nut on in these situations. For that one I'd use like a nut for a 3/4" bolt. Plenty of meat to weld on and plenty of surface area to grab with a wrench. When welding, set your ground clamp to the nut to lessen the chance of arcing from the plug to the threads and tacking them together. This could really mess up your threads when you back the plug out.

you can drill a hole in it and use an easy out but just weld a 1/2 foot long piece of 1/4 " rod side ways to it like a wrench handle  and un screw it  :dunno:
