April 20, 2008: Inspected Clutch, upgraded to W56A-HD with short throw, cleaned t/cases, installed oil sight tube, installed new CrossmemberWe'll just say April 20 was a very good day
First order of business was to remove my entire drive train
Out with the old wrecking-yard W56B:
In with the new (used) W56A-HD:
That is Marlin's own personal W56A-HD that he originally ran behind his 3RZ until we finished our R-series Bellhousing. So he runs a Turbo R151F trans and his very low mileage W56A-HD had been waiting for me for some time. My old transmission was starting to make noise in 5th gear, but otherwise worked perfectly fine. I just wanted to get old stuff replaced with new to minimize the amount of down time I'll have in the future. Remember, I am going to reliability here!
Here is my 3RZ Flywheel we resurfaced:
And my (dealer replacement?) clutch that I got with the engine back in '04 is still looking quite good:
Then I took some degreaser and spent a good 30 mins cleaning up my Crawl boxes and transfer case. 4 years of oil leaks and mud and road grime; Here is how clean I got them, you can even see my signature on the middle Crawl box I signed from 4 yrs ago
:
Here Marlin is installing our new Oil Level Sight tube:
Here it is installed:
Ahhhhhh that is a sight for sore eyes
Here is Marlin's handwriting that will never come off for a long time to come:
And here is the short throw I've been needing for a loooong time:
