Well did a little troubleshooting and investigating. But to no final success with the tach issue.
One thing I did. Was after looking at a wiring diagram I noticed the stock rpm gauge gets its signal from the black wire off the igniter.
Originally I had the "green" wire from the aftermarket gauge I have been using for years going to the negative terminal on the coil.
So I relocated this to tie in with the black wire off the igniter.
But no difference in tach . Which is currently staying at the 2100 rpm mark. Regardless of engine on or off

. And will move with in 200 rpms either way. Depending if I'm revving or idling.
Also. I isolated my FAST multispark, and plugged the stock igniter directly to the coil. .
Thinking that multispark has something to do with it. But no difference still.
Perhaps there's an issue because my engine(and ignition) are a 22re . And this gauge is from 22r carb era truck?
