I think the key word is competition.  In my opinion, this fall into the category of things that are highly unlikely to ever break with the way you intent to build your truck and driving style, but more insurance isn't a bad thing either.  I didn't have the option and probably would have opted out since a broken output shaft isn't common at all.  I would blame it either one driving style or straight up crazy wheeling that is beyond my needs.
