I can build whatever you need. EGR, cold start injector, blah blah blah... If you need it, itll be built better than factory.

Ya ok thanks thanks twisted, grateful to have a bro like yourself involved  in this build. Really helps to take the edge off.

No problem, always thinking outside of the box. I have to gather up the manifold pieces and sit down with my buddy to determine exactly what we need to do. I'll keep you posted!

Would you want the early style upper plenum or the newer style? Older style kicks the throttle body down (as seen on Immortals 80) and newer style is straight...

Honestly I'm lost on that one. if it's a matter of opinion then the early. But is there is obvious benefits to running the later style then let's do that one. But if not then I like the early one.

Give me the cheapest option :)

The newer style 89-94 intakes with the throttle body that's straight idle better have better throttle response and has a better cold start valve. Along with better injectors. I'm switching to that style of intake/throttle body that would be the one to get if I were you

Not entirely  familiar. But would that mean I would need the smog pump, for emissions, from that gen also???

Sorry immortal  but wouldn't that be a "yes" then ??? Didn't the later style 22re 's have a smog pump as part of their smog equipment

#103
Well I finally finished bolting down chinook. Had a lot of "other priorities" come in to play and I had to move my chinook to the day dreaming speed as far as progress goes. However after it all settled. The camper over cab hang is much taller. Got about a 1 3/16" body lift. (Maybe a little more with the floor being flat now)

Here's how she sits. :)

Much gooder since the camper weight is now off the cab. As you can see with the forward and back movement from being on the road, it rubbed the paint off a tid bit on the top of the cab.

This should really help with the thingy eyed wieght

And I got myself some 6' original bench cushions from an 82 Dolphin. For $20 . For the new interior design.

I think they should match the paint scheme nicely  :yesnod:

Pretty good shape just one major tear on one. The other is flawless. For its age.

Got my new camshaft in yesterday.  Also had one of the biggest scares of my life.  Haha.  As I was torqueing down #3 bearing cap for the cam, I BROKE THE BOLT IN THE HEAD! Thankfully I was able to get an easy out bit and back it out with no problems the next day. honestly one of the scariest minor setbacks I've had with this build so far.

The thing I learned when I swapped out motors in my truck, is to get new bolts.  25+ year old bolts like to stretch.   I didn't break any, but I could feel a couple stretching on me, and I ran to the parts store and got new bolts.

Ran her for the first time tonight. After the break in period. And man she really sounds good! I can tell a difference  in power too. But unfortunately, with the new raised chinook platform. The camper floor or shell (maybe both), are Squeaking against the back of the cab, like a squeaking grocery cart wheel. Agghhhh!! Insanely annoying especially since it's on the driver side right by my ear.... defiantly one of the things taking priority for getting fixed.    But she does run great now. :)

Cool beans!

So you like the cam then?  What did you use for pre-lube on the cam? Looks red...

Torco lube. It's what the cam came with in the box. The intructions   scared me a little bit, talking about how severe it can be with excessive cranking. but I had to crank it over a few times to get the fuel back into the line through the regulator and into the carburetor. but I did let it sit between 1500 and 1800 rpms for well over the 30 minute break in. Should I worry about the cranking at the beginning or am I just being overly paranoid ???

I have installed a couple aftermarket cams on old but good rockers and never had a problem. I always used engine pre-lube on them. I'd say your good. Just check your valve lash after a little while and adjust if necessary.

Cool bro sounds good. [emoji106] just took her for her first big trip. 4 hrs ride to glenwood. Very happy with her especially  the mileage !!! I had a strong head wind for last 50 or so miles, and I used maybe a 1/4 of a tank!! haha I love this thing.!

Nice photo! What do you think you'll do, 22re or 3RZ swap?

3rz would be bomb suace, but with the money in this motor already, I wanted to atleast use it. So what I'm hoping is for twisted  to fab me up a TBI for the 20r. We'll see though, no hard feelings if he cant. And by the way, that trip to glennwood from  Denver is about 170 miles. And with a 19 gallon tank. And only using a third of the tank at MAX. According  to the fuel gauge. That's about 28mpg. :dunno: seems too good to be true. But hey that's 20 ' s mileage. And since I was up there decided  to some wheeling.

And that's 170 miles through the CO mountain  passes. Ups and downs In elevation. Through the continental divide.

Nice trail, pretty country.  Wheeling a camper does it feel top heavy?

Honestly not to bad. I didn't feel the weight , plus wheeling alone I didn't take any outrageous  angles, a buddy of mine houses is about a 30 min walk from the trail. Just about all undesired flex or feeling of "top heavy" came from riding on plain  Jane 29" street tires with a not so stiff side wall. I've got the 31's  in my garage, just got to get the rims to mount them on. I'm thinking black steelies with circle  windows.
