so what does the Toyota mechanics think it is? did he give an assumption of what is wrong?

I don't want to put words in his mouth (it's all 2nd/3rd hand info), but it sounded like when he looked at it his best guess was that replacing the steering box would resolve the issue.  I am assuming that there wasn't an isolated hot spot in the system that would pin point a suspect and with the previous box being recently modified it became the prime suspect.  There was both a physical hitch in the steering and the heat and it appears that the hitch was pretty much resolved with the steering box swap.

need to go pick one of these up, then you may be able to isolate what actually is getting hot http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=thermometer

I see coupons all the time for that at about $25

Well I think I may have found the source of my heat. I found first of all that my line from my pump to my box (hot line) was in direct contact with my reservoir. I also found that one of the lines running to my ram was laying across a radiator hose. Finally I found a junction where 3 of the hoses were in contact with each other. Likely causing the hot lines to heat up the cool lines. I added insulation to everything and am hoping for the best.

Ever seen Cannonball Run, where the old boys in the chevy car load up with like 30 cases of beer and on bag of pork rinds?

Kind of reminds me of that.  Have a good trip!

Interested to see what you think of the tires on the rock.

So my LUX rock lights showed up literally in the nick of time. Got them installed as well as cleaning up my ghetto install job I had done when installing the All4Offroad lights. Put it in loom and what not.

They are definitely brighter than the All4Offroad and are certainly higher quality construction. The built in magnets and resin make them very nice. HOWEVER the hassle I had to go through to receive them from the company and price make me advise people against purchasing them.

Sounds like a plan. Got the fridge packed with food and ready to go minus the chili that is cooling down in the fridge.

Won't be running any trails at bfe this time. Maybe in the future with a cage.

Well Moab was a great time and also not so much. Unfortunately we called it quits half way through the trip due to those of us dirt camping being sorely unprepared for the wet cold weather that we were dealt. We all came with an abundance of shorts and t-shirts however we all only brought a single hoodie, no rain gear, no cold weather gear (we were getting below freezing temperatures), etc. We decided to use the nice weather on Wednesday to pack up dry while we could (even worse weather was forecast for Thursday and Friday) and head home. That being said the 3 days of wheeling we got in were jam packed full of awesomeness and I can't thank Jon (blackdiamond) and his buddy Rob enough for their incredible spotting and trail leadership. Also huge thanks of course to Mark (mudmaster) for trailering me down there and back. I have a lot of footage to go through and will be uploading it to YouTube in the coming days. For starters here are some of the pictures myself and mudmaster captured.
