I don't like exos. That being said, it also isn't my rig.
Wheeling with an exo is awesome! It lowers stress levels and allows you to do things you normally wouldnt do when body damage it a concern.im really glad i went exo

Jangelfire, saw a few pictures of your exo . Came out great  If you were to go with the glass bedsides I think something over that sweet new bed would be a must. Think worrying about body damage with sheet metal is tough I could only imagine the stress of a tight spot with glass :nerv:

My 85 runner had an exo. It was a good comfort knowing that when I flopped it wasn't going to have the roof hitting me in the head.

Regarding weight and fiberglass:  The only experience I have was a set of Fenders on an '86 truck I had.  The fiberglass was definitely heavier than the steel.

Still I don't think you would be adding much weight compared to all the other crap we stick to these things.

That is interesting to hear that the glass is actually heavier. I guess I incorrectly assumed it would be lighter.

I am surprised as well.  I didn't expect much of a weight reduction simply because Toyota sheet metal is pretty thin, but I didn't figure that it would be heavier.

I would expect something with structure and webbing to it like hood to be lighter in fiberglass, but yeah, I was surprised too on the fenders.  These were Hannemann fenders.  The material was kind of thicker than you would expect too.  I would be curious to see how bedsides were compared to the stock skin.

Have you asked Slacker if he has ever done any weight comparison's on any parts? Fender to fender , hood to hood. Guess it's probably a popular question right now.  Would be interesting to know

I'm not worried about it. Its negligible.

Well 3rd time is the charm....almost. Put in another tapped IFS box this weekend. It is a no leaker however my steering is overly tight now. I attempted to adjust the box with the adjustment screw on the top however I could not get the screw and the locking nut to turn independently of one another. Going to soak them with some penetrating oil over the next couple days and give it another go.

OTO Phil

Kano aerokroil is the best penetrating oil I've ever used... but could it be cause by an over tightened link?

What do you mean an over tightened link? Yeah kroil is what we use at work too. Can't beat it.

OTO Phil

I couldn't remember if you'd recently done anything to your axle, but what i meant was the bearing preload on your knuckles.. no idea why I said link

It's just the new box most likely.
Drive it for a while some times they need to break in.

Did you double check the fluid level after running it and turning the steering wheel back and forth?

Yes I did a standard bleed procedure and burped it. Wheels on jack stands. Turned left and right with key in accessory until air stopped coming through. Then fired it and did the same.

It isn't a new box is the thing. Though it could be a rebuilt one. Would it being rebuilt do that as well?

OTO Phil

If the box was rebuilt, the guts may have been swapped from a different box.. meaning different tolerances possibly

Hit Naches with the club this weekend. Got some redemption on the line I flopped on last year. Was a great trip overall. Had the opportunity to take two first timers to the area up with me. They both had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back.

Notice the line of Jeeps in the back doing nothing but watching. Same thing every time we go up there.  :rofl2:

OTO Phil

Lol they're watching with jaws dropped because they dropped 50k on their rigs and don't know how to drive them like you do.
Great job, saw your posts on ig

Best part was they all had stickers on their Jeeps that said "Watch This 4x4" apparently that means they watch other 4x4s.

Someone should point out that there's a white 4Runner in the lineup.  Did anyone go rescue it?
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

I would assume that the addition of the dual cases changed the dynamic on the "flop" line significantly?  I'm thinking that you didn't have duals on that trip?
