Thanks for the taking us on a trip back to Hell's Revenge!  If you watch your attempt on the Escalator on a laptop you can tilt it until the spotter is standing vertical and it gives you a much better perspective of things.  I was curious to see your first Hell's Gate run, but it vanished!  Was the video at a slightly higher speed?  It's hard to tell with the wide angle lens that already distorts the perspective ever so slightly.

Didn't include my first run on hell's gate due to it mainly being a video of the sky. No the video is in real time speed.

Moab's great for viewing the sky...

I guess it's possible to run Hell's Revenge in about 2-1/2 hours if you just drove straight through.

I have done that trail several times in my 85 on 32's with open diffs. There was a huge and very hit fire that went through the area and just about burned it off the face of the earth. The roots of the trees were burning like six feet in the ground.  My church would do men's camp outs in the area and the boys with toys, be they quads or trucks, would play on Hackett and Longwater. There is a fun water crossing in the area.

To each their own. I've never been a big fan of tenacious d either.  :dunno: I know a lot of people who think they are hilarious though.

Just got a quote for bobbing my truck as well as reworking the terrible fenders. Its actually much more reasonable than I thought it would be. Pretty sure I'm going to do it once the season is over. I'm also keyed up on a potential new DD. Its a very well looked after 3rd gen 4Runner with 170k on the clock. Going to try and take a look at it this weekend on the way home from Naches. It will be me and the girl's 3rd car for a while and then I'll throw some Diamonds under it down the road

Right on! Here's a pic of my buddy Isaac's runner.. ARBs, armored.. this thing is a tank! I look forward to seeing what you do with yours!

Would the plan be to simply run the soft top full time or was modifying the hard top part of the quote?

Doing the top was a little extra and I'll likely have them do it. I'll be ordering a new KTT for the bob too.

Well I had quite the trip up to Naches. Seemed like a jinxed weekend. A lot of breaks, flops, near flops, and tense situations. I guess the trail just decided to bite back. Had a great time and got to take some of my buddies up for the first time.

EASYRYDERDANGER 3 wheeling pretty good on the Funny Rocks line that I flopped on last year

Top of Manastash Ridge with the Jeep guys we hung out with this weekend

He also lost a a tail light  :ha_ha:

Oh yeah I also snapped my rear axle on the Driver's side like a twig right at the c-clip.

Big thanks to Chris for being such a good friend and towing me home from camp. I owe you one big time, buddy.

As Andrew said, this was an eventful trip and I was only wheeling for about a half day.

This trip may be the last one for the rear outputbearing on my t-case. One of my familiar noises that seemed to coincide with the new tires and traction bar was a lot worse on the trip home. I considered AAA from Kirkland or taking a ferry to minimize the miles, but ended up just driving it home. The rear output definitely has some wiggle, it has had a little for a long time, so I suspect it may have translations from annoying noise to a necessary repair. I will be talking to Chris about it at some point.  I wish I had a smooth set of "car" tires to throw on to really hear the noises.

I did a tune up today so that's a step forward.

Good thing you did some local wheeling before your next moab trip. Otherwise you'd have found that problem very far from home.

I suspect the issue is as much a road issue as it is a wheeling issue and I always get it on the road before a long trip. It is a complete 4.70 t-case from Marlin that I purchased back around 2002 and I don't think it's been opened up other than to pull the pin for twin sticks. I drove home from Walla Walla with a bent driveshaft when it was first built and I expected that to cause some premature wear/damage. We shall see what's actually wrong...

If you end up upgrading the output when replacing it I know a lot of people have been having good luck with RCV's outputs that are significantly cheaper than Marlin's:

the rearmost output shaft bearing can be replaced easily without removing the transfer case. I replaced mine recently.   pictured are the part numbers except for the cover gasket. I was chasing down a noise that was ultimately fixed by a new rear cv driveshaft.

That's what I like to see.

I just had a conversation with my local mechanic and he told me to pull the driveshaft and check the nut on the flange.  He said he's see several of those get loose quite a few times.  It certainly won't hurt to give it a try.

Got my new axle with new bearing, collar, and seals all pressed in. Just need to put it back in the housing, fill her up with fresh fluid, refill and bleed my brakes and then I should be back to jammin.  :driving:
