That's crazy clean looking

Yeah it was the fabled "old man's hunting truck". It had a tree fall on it during a windstorm and total it. I lucked out for sure.

Pulled the trigger on a radiator yesterday. All aluminum dual core 2 row by Nippon Racing. Hopefully it should solve my hot soak issues. Also got a re-manufactured ifs box from Marlin on the way. Should be the last piece of the puzzle for my suspension and steering overhaul. That is once All-Pro gets off their asses and gets me my springs, shackles, and shocks. My patience is really growing thin with them.

OVRAROK

i think you will be happy with radiator, dropped temps by 15-20 degrees

Picked up a new 180* thermostat to throw in at the same time.

I've long debated the aluminum radiator upgrade.  I currently have a plastic tank one......sigh

I know a man that will make a four core all aluminium radiator......
With inlet and outlet wherever you want which is convenient as a stock one wont work with a v8

Hmmm...
I have had my eye on an Australian aluminum 3 core that will bolt in for AU$320 or £163 shipped. could your contact beat that price?

I will find out. Its easier for you to get stuff from oz as your not that far away....
I doubt it as there custom made..
Hence why i will be using him as the inlet and outlet are nothing like anything else want him to see if he can mount it further forward in its case so it gives more rad/fans(electric)/pulley clearance. Should be able to go thirty mm deeper with the body lift 1-1/4"..... Thats the plan anyway

No I think you are right that custom would be a lot more expensive.

Nate you should check out the one I picked up. Dual core and 2 row all aluminum for $200 bucks. I'm sure that would be more than enough.

Won't work for a diesel. The input/output are opposite.

Ahhh :pokinit: didn't think about that.

New radiator showed up yesterday. Looks to be of good quality. No cap however which is a shame. Anyone know a good place to get Toyota caps? Just the dealer I suppose?

SqWADoosh

I also will need to ground this radiator because of it being aluminum correct?

OVRAROK

I  don't run a ground strap, I would think that bolts holding it in would ground it

My understanding is that electrolysis is a problem when running these aluminum radiators. I see your point though that the bolts should adequately ground the radiator. Maybe I'll freshen up my ground from my body to frame (probably a good thing to do anyways) just to make sure.

84Flatbed

I picked up a Sankei cap from Napa. I don't remember if it was in stock but they can get most parts next day.

I've heard of it. Don't know if its really necessary to go to that extent. I only have a stock stereo with only one working speaker after all  :rofl2:

So I'm guessing you are happy with the radiator you bought? Just making sure, I'm about to pull the trigger on the same one

I'm putting it in tomorrow buddy. The initial quality seems good though.

Got my refurbished ifs box and some flair from marlin yesterday.

Well I was quite productive this weekend. Got quite a few things checked off my list that I have been procrastinating about.

17. Replace tired stock 22re radiator (All Aluminum Nippon)

Got the shroud and old radiator out.

I have to say the 3RZ has this amazing drain nipple for the block which made draining a breeze!

The new radiator had a bent mounting bracket that I had to take the vice grips to. Got it bent as straight as I could and the radiator mounted right up.

18.Replace stock 3RZ thermostat with 180* (LCE sells it and its accompanying o-ring)

While I was in there I decided to upgrade the thermostat to the 180* one.

Results after the new rad and thermostat. Block was at 198* before.

21.Belts are squealing on acceleration (replace with Toyota bando belts sourced from dealer)

Did the belts since I had the rad out and they had been lightly squealing on acceleration.

22. Replace spark plugs and wires (NGK wires & Plugs)

Did the plugs and wires I've had lying around since Christmas as well.

Before:

After:

That took up my Saturday. Sunday I had a range day.

My 229 hanging out with my father in law's M&Ps.

100 yds with red dot sight on my AR. Need some work.
