nice rig man
not gonna be as cool as the brown 3rz one though!!! haha
and that rear bumper is sick

Thanks, the brown one was pretty cool and I regret selling it but it needed a lot of work and I was burnt out on it. This one will be just as capable :)

That made me throw up in my mouth a little! ;)

I ordered this bumper today:
http://tacticalarmorgroup.com/TAG-Bumper-Store/MultiCarrier-4Runner-1984-1989

But its 8-12 weeks out  :( Going to be a long wait.

Cool rear bumper.   Reminds me of the older CBI stuff, when they made stuff for these generations.   :yesnotd:

Ordered a winch today. When it gets here I will get my ARB front bumper mounted. Not looking forward to lifting that on with a winch attached!

Only $300 for this and it has good reviews.. so we will see.. I hope it doesn't bite me going cheap...

I think you need a plan. Maybe some cribbing. It will be very heavy.

Figured I would post a light update:

I haven't really done anything because I have been prepping to move for several months now and now in two weeks I finally get to move which means having my own garage for the first time in over ten years! So I have been collecting parts and getting things ready.

I found a V6 carrier on craigslist for $50 and had my ARB installed and ready to drop in:

Then I took off rear hitch and stock bumper: (dont laugh at cheesy dual exhaust.. that will change later)

The bumper I ordered finally got shipped to me 4 months later when I was told 8-12 weeks.... grrrrrr.
So its sitting and ready to be installed:

Then I actually drove the runner this last weekend to take the boys shooting.. it ran and drove great even after sitting for months! I should really drive more often!... Oh yeah and paint is coming soon as well :)

Looking great.

I would suggest that you consider going with a 4.70:1 single transfer case.  You don't have the stock low range, but I was happy with that setup for several years in my 85 4Runner.  The advantage of not having to mess with drivetrain angles and drive shaft lengths makes the plug-n-play worth it, plus you'll be on your way to a dual ultimate when you find out that a rock crawler is calling your name again.

I don't have it installed yet. I move in a couple weeks then that will be one of the first things I do. I don't want to say anything about the company yet till I make sure it fits cause I'm not happy with the company...

Right now I can only attest to their crappy customer service, fabrication times and overall bad business practices.. hopefully fabrication and craftsmanship will make up for it.

Small update:

I washed the ARB bumper and painted it this weekend. One step closer to installing. I wanted to go with something other than black this time and figured silver would look good with the white.

Then started test fitting the rear bumper brackets. Only two of 3 holes lined up so I will have to modify some in order to get that third bolt in. And also so I can pivot it up away from the shackle some more.

Worked on the front ARB last night since my runner is now pulling daily driver duty for a while..

ARB in their instructions note to cut off the two mounts on top the front crossmember...

I didn't think that was a good idea so I modified the bumper instead by cutting and bending back material at these locations.

All ready for install

Initial install..

I'm glad I have to pull it back off anyway to do winch because I really do not like the gray.. I am going to paint it back to black.

Then for the fun of it.. my TRD horn button :)

I think I am going a different route which means I will probably be selling my front ARB bumper and rear tire carrier.

I found a great deal on a newer runner.. so I am going 3rd Gen now.. Good thing is that I can use my ARB locker and sliders on the 3rd gen. I am going to put my first gen back to stock (bumpers) and leave it for now.

What's the plans for the older Runner?

I am putting stock bumpers back on it and basically going to put it back to how I got it and most likely sell it :/

So the ARB front bumper will be for sale along with the rear bumper/ tire carrier.
