so I did rummage thru on of my extra 22re stuff, found a wiring harness from a 86 that I put motor in(new motor came with its own harness). so it looks like the white wire coming from 80 amp fuse, goes to alternator. also found white wire coming up to power 40 amp coming from alternator too( I have continuity from the stud white wire off alternator to 2 white wires in fuse box), when I installed 130 amp alternator on 22re, that main white wire on alternator was removed. replaced with 2 awg wire, anyways I clipped white wire feeding 40 amp( which had no power) and installed to empty side of 80 amp fuse. works good, truck is firing, running,

Generally speaking they are the same when you use the factory 22re stuff , I'm not sure if Dave put the 3rz fuse box in but I don't think he did

no only stock engine bay fuse box

On the last picture ? You do have those two connectors plugged into the top next to fuses correct?

yes

So did you figure out how that wasn't effecting your 22re? How was your 22re running without that?

Not quite sure, I quit racking my brain over it, now I'm thinking of bobbing the runner like 3"

Fair enough. Only 3"? Seems like a lot of work for only 3 inches. Most people do like 8+

I don't want to lose to much bed space, but I think 3" will help a lot with departure angles for the rear, the metal part of Bob will be easy, it going to be the top that will be the hardest part for me, thinking of buying extra top, cutting 3" out of it then doing bed to match

Most people cut to match the slider window in the top and just remove it, right?

3" will make a difference, but I would suggest more. Go at least 6".

I think 6" would make it look bobbed, I like that subtle look, where someone that knows 4runner would have to take a second glance at it, knowing something is different

So, in the last few days I've been driving short distances, mainly to cure vht header paint, that I use for exhaust pipe. It does smoke a bit when curing, the first thing I noticed is I feel like there is less backpressure, thus giving me more high rpm torque. Seems to get it at 2500-3000 rpms. I would like to build more backpressure, so that it makes more torque in lower rpm range. Question is...... Has anybody used a lollipop baffle. Just looking for real world feedback .I know it will help me fine tune backpressure in exhaust, letting me get max torque in ideal rpm range. Any input would be great

someone recently posted a pic of a special, removable gasket they put in for more back pressure when doing a smog test.... basically was a block off plate, with holes in it

You might just be seeing what a 3rz does in comparison to a 22r. All of mine (even on stock tacomas) haven't really had the grunt until about 2500, above 3k they come alive.

To fine tune backpressure, I'd think you'd need something like this

awesome,  you got it running! I'm a bit confused on the filters on the evap box. from what I remember, both of those ports are outputs for fuel tank vapor. one is to route the vapor into the intake when the engine is running. the other directs the vapor down the framerail when the engine is off. that looks like it would put the vapor into the engine compartment

Didn't want to leave them open until I figure out where to route them, can't smell any vapors though

oh. gotcha. I started to think you might have done a canister delete. I've seen people put a pressure relief valve on  the tank vent line and do something similar with the filters

What cannister are you talking about, I have deleted charcoal cannister that was stock on 87

So, I don't know if my motor has correct back pressure with new exhaust. Decided to make something that I could play with back pressure. Cost was roughly 10 dollars. Couple 2 1/4" flanges, welded together, with a fender washer, drilled out center, bolt, and nut. Grooved end of bolt, to let me know if it's opened fully, or closed if it makes no difference, I can always just remove from exhaust system

Are you not getting enough torque? What size is your exhaust?
