check my pattern please
« on: Feb 19, 2005, 11:09:17 AM »
Hey all, This is my first diff job on a Toy third... just wanted to see what you think of my pattern check. A buddy of mine said i was ok. I think its a little on the deep side.  :dunno:  The gears are Richmond V6 4.88s. In a V6 housing.  I have .007 backlash and a .074 pinion shim. any suggetsions would be appreciated.

I have done 5 or 6 Toyota diffs and id say that your pattern looks pretty good :beerchug: I also put 4.88s in my truck and they ended up looking about like that.  The backlash is good also, normally you want from 5 to 10 hundredths of and inch, if i remember right.  Looks Good :turtle:  :usa:

That looks good!  As the gears wear, the pattern will come up a little anyway...

I allway thought that you wanted to have the contact area centered on the drive side.
