Orange peel is nothing a little wet sanding won't take care of, if I even care that much.  I just want one good solid color on this thing.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Pulled the red toy into the garage the other night.  Started tearin' her apart.  Should have the cab off tonight.  Need an air compressor, mig welder, and plasma cutter.  You'll have to come by and see the new shop.  :beerchug:

Oh, nice.  I'm glad you kept it.  I lost my camera, so that's why I haven't updated in a while.  I'll probably just borrow a friends camera for some finished pics.  Probably around the first of the year.  Sounds like there will be a few nice red first gens in Loveland!

Decided to go 2 tone with the paint, that makes touch ups easy.

Carpet pad glued down and vinyl floor cut to fit.

Made some door panels using 1/8" MDF and black trim from the auto parts store.

This is my first 1st gen.  I'm 6'2", so if this ends up being too tight for a daily driver then I'll just have a really nice platform for my next dedicated crawler I guess.  It's been a fun build, for sure, and is nearing completion.

Specs on the engine are pretty straightforward, just forgot to post em yet.

-1984 22r
-Master rebuild kit from Engn Bldr
-.040" pistons
-261 RV Crawler cam
-Complete head rebuild with new exhaust valves, oddly the intake valves were fine
-Weber 32/36 with K&N high flow filter
-MSD 6A ignition box and Blaster coil
-Trail Gear Bomb Proof motor mounts
-New OEM Aisin clutch
-High flow exhaust with some kind of big muffler that the muffler shop hooked me up with, I think it's for a V-8, but sounds good on the little 22r

I built this engine 2 years ago for my old truggy, but only put 1000 miles on it, so it's still like new.  Can't wait to hear it run again!  Pretty sure I'm in that 140 BHP range, though I've never had it dyno tested.  Also, I have the stock 1980 20r head with provisions for power steering, so in my down time I might port and polish that, build it with oversized SS valves, and put it on.

Few Updates, finished the 2 tone paint on the bed, and got it mounted, installed tail lights, tail gate, and rear window.  Also, started to wire up the MSD, but need a longer cable from my coil pack to the distributor.

Got the brakes almost done, just have to hook up some lines and bleed them.  Upgraded to the 1" bore master cylinder, new front calipers, cruiser rotors that I had, just got them turned, and new shoes and cylinders out back.  Stainless lines all around.  Also, while I was in the hydraulics mood I replaced the clutch slave and got the lines all hooked up.  Also, installed a new radiator and all hoses.

Lots of boring pics, I know.

Nice man.  I'd be careful with that 6al not being in the cab.  My buds fried with just water from a rain storm.  There is an epoxy you can get to fill it and waterproof it yourself.   Worth the money imo.  Happy New Year brotha!

Just drove it for the 1st time!  Engine pulls like no other 22r I've ever driven.  Shocks are way too stiff, and it squats a little in the rear,  but this is nothing some normal adjusting won't take care of.  Here's a little walk round video.

Vinyl floor, took a while to install, but worth it in the end.

The Weber carburetor inlet is a metric 10 x 1.00 thread pitch, not a 1/8" NPT, so I bought an NPT adapter fitting with 1/8 on one side and 5/16" on the other, turned the 5/16 down to 10mm and ran a die on it to make a custom adapter.  This is  Holly 1-4 psi regulator.  The round ones from the regular parts store will give you nothing but headaches, trust me.  Also, not I have a chrome gauge, and that's always cool!

Went DH mountain biking at Lefthand Canyon today.  This is by far the best riding and most powerful Toyota that I've ever built.  I was pulling hills harder than my 2 friends in their Tacomas with 3.4s.

Nice truck and even better video dude! So You work for PUSH Industries or what? What did the Push re-valving do for you over the stock valving of those Fox shocks?

Thanks, and yes, I am a technician at PUSH.  We have never officially tuned truck shocks, but they are actually simpler internally than a mountain bike shock damper.  All I did was install what I thought would be a good starting point for the compression and rebound shim stacks.  Also, I installed some of out shaft bumpers and they seem to be working really nice.  I have some ideas for the valving that I want to try now that I have had a chance to get some miles on the truck both on and off road.  It's very nice being able to combine both of my hobbies and work all together!

Nice! Keep me updated if you find that a different re-valving feels better than your current setup... cause im looking to buy some of those 2.0's myself, and i might have to hit you up to re-valve mine eventually . Wish you lived closer too so we could ride together because i'm about to buy a 2012 Scott Genius LT and i need some friends to bomb the mountain with you know!
