here's what I'd do..

Pull both heads (I know, it's a pregnant dog but..)

Take them to a machine shop (I like Ram in west sac, they have done a ton of stuff for me), don't forget to bring that kit you bought since they will use a bunch of that stuff and if you don't bring it they'll charge you a bunch for stuff you allready paid for.

Go from there..

I'd bring the HG to that guy too, you might be able to just re-use it or worst case just buy that one side.

did a compression test and the other bank was an even 175 across the board. I know, to do it right we should did both AND had the head tested, payin for it now..

Back cylinder on the side we changed was only 50 and one next to it was 225 (full of water?)

yeah passenger side was 175, all three cylinders, but the drivers side was 150, 240, 50.  And the #4 cylinder was full of water.

That doesn't mean that you werent mixing juices or loosing coolant on the other side tho.  I don't mean to be a richard and say I told you so, but in my write-up, I suggested to pull both heads at once.  I promise, its WAY easier that way.  At this point, I'd definitely pull 'em both and re-inspect everything.  It'd be a good idea to have the machine shop put in new valve seals and check the valves anyway.  3.0's have a tendency to "suck in" exhaust valves anyway (which could have been your loss of compression altogether).

Let me know what I can do to help!

another thing, when I did my 5.0 I simply unhooked the fuel rail from the fuel line and left the rails attached to the injectors and the intake. Any reason that can't be done on the 3.0? Honestly I wasn't around much for the dissassembly (workin on my junk) but that seems like that would have made life easier..

Ruger was worried about the fuel leakin, but after we took it off when we were putting it back together, obviously, the fuel leakin isnt a problem.  When I take them apart, I am gonna just disconnect them to begin with, it'll be A LOT easier.  I know it will.

a lot easier is to leave them attached but just disconnect the whole system from the main line if possible and not mess with the injectors etc. You got a fuel pump dude, don't worry about losing a little teaspoon of fuel ;)

That pump don't pump with no power, not like it's gonna shoot out since it is higher then the tank..

you guys can leave the injectors in the fuel rails- no need to remove 'em.  Theres a 17mm banjo bolt on the back of the fuel rail- just un-do that and you won't need to remove the injectors.  The rails, the injectors, and the lower intake manifold all come off as an assembly.  It'll end up similar to Brandons 5.slow

I could definatly use a hand, we could plan a bbq or just get pizza or something or other.

what times are good for you? How bout we talk after your truck is back to tip top shape - if your not going to tow it to your parents I suppose you could just get started and then if you get told to leave you can bring it back over here or whatever. I wish my side yard was clear then it wouldn't be a big deal at all. Once I get my truck outa there then it will be  :eyebrow:

How are you getting around now? That truly sucks about your truck :(

I actually got sick and tired of waiting, so Yosh and I started takin the truck apart again.  We spent two hours on it, and got the radiator, fan, shroud, batt., alternator, timing belt, camshaft pulleys,  and the upper air intake completely off. :hyper:  Man, this time the job is going a lot faster.  I'm catchin rides with Yosh, and I am borrowing his truck from time to time when he doesnt need it.  It is actually working out pretty well.  I'll prolly get the heads off on sunday, since saturday is my valentines day cause Renee is home from school.  After I get the heads back from the shop, I might swing by and borrow your torque wrench and timing gun if you dont mind, Between mine and yoshs tools we got everything else.  :crossed:

Alright, total count so far, 3 hours 45 minutes, and we have the drivers side head (problem side) pulled loose.  Started on the pass. side, but it is getting too dark to finish.  Once again, had water sitting in the #4 piston   When we popped the head loose, a good amount of water poured out of the piston  :shudder:  Tommorow I will be taking the drivers side head in, and then heading back to work on the pass. side head.  If the shop tells me that the drivers side head had a crack in it, or it was warped, do I have to pull the pass. side??  I know it is a good idea, but I am running short on time.  I need my truck rolling yesterday.  Like previously mentioned, the pass side seemed good, good compression, no water in the pistons, and no telltale signs from the plugs.  still hoping nothing is wrong with the block :scared:

Oh yeah, Brandon and Ruger, I figured out where the extra parts go

Dude-

Definately pull the passenger side head.  The water in the cylinder could have just been from removing the head, and not from a blown headgasket.  Post up some pics of the gaskets after you remove them.  I know you said you had low compression on the drivers side, but that could be caused by a burnt exhaust valve or something totally unrelated to a blown gasket problem.  The water/oil mix could be occuring on the passenger side and not affecting compression.  I know you're short on time and need your wheels, but it is SO easy to pull the passenger side head now, that you shouldn't hesistate to proceed.  Better to be sure than have to tear it apart a third time.

Yeah, I know.  Its just getting down to the point where i am starting to get frustrated with it.  will a burnt valve send water out the exhaust though?  and make the foam on the inside of the oil cap??  That is kinda what gave it away as a headgasket or so we thought.  When we took the head gasket off the first time, as well as tonight, it didnt look bad.  We were all kinda confused, cause the head gasket wasnt torn or anything.  :dunno:

Burnt valve has nothing to do with water leakage, low compression yes.

thats what i thought but I wanted to make sure

so water leakage in the piston indicates

blown head gasket
cracked or warped head
cracked or warped block

right??
