Yesterday:
Glen McDade is in recovery. Dr. Rayburn said he is doing good. I got to see him & although he has mask to help breathe ( off respirator ) has IV's, drains, wires, and various other bells & whistles, he looks good considering. He is in pain and running a low fever, but again, to be expected. He "looks" better than he did when he had his abdominal surgery years ago. Get to see again after 8 pm so another update then. Again, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, please continue for recovery. God Bless you all.

This morning:
News flash update!!!!! Glen McDade ate a breakfast of a scrambled egg, a bite of some kind of scrambled sausage, 1/2 piece of French toast (no syrup) applesauce, small coffee and small milk. He also had the main drain removed (the one on machine) and his "ground fault"wire unplugged. They are thinking of removing the lead in his forehead (awaiting orders on that) but said he didn't "need" that either!!! He has some back and rib pain and some pain in left arm and left leg (post surgery and normal) some of the back pain is from his wreck (2007). They are removing the big central IV from his NECK, he doesn't need that either!!! YAHOO, HALLELUJAH, AMEN and PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!

Another update on Glen!

From FB:

"News flash......... Glen McDade was seen walking in the hall of the CVICU with 2 nurses, luckily the tailgate was closed. He is still weak in legs and BACK from accident, but can't use crutch. Apparently nothing tastes good or right, so trying to get something to appease appetite. Doing respiratory therapy and his incentive sporometer to work lungs. Progressing, maybe smaller steps than they want, but with other issues he still doing good."


I asked if the nurses were HOT??

Another update from Glen's sister from FB:


"BETTER NEWS!!!!! Glen McDade is having small improvements. He has not had extra pain medication since yesterday evening, neither ground pills or IV morphine. He is still on the ventilator, but he is breathing also, not just depending on the machine. He is still sedated but very much less than previously. Things are moving along also...lol....TMI...lol. They researched ALL the liquid tube feed products that they have and because of his ALLERGIES he can't have any of it, so they called to Childrens and asked if they had any to spare that didn't have corn, and apparently they didn't have anything so they are going to try a nutrient rich solution that goes into his IV. They wanted the feed tube, because they want his bowel working, but are very agreeable that NOTHING else needs to compromise him and his health issues in any way. Worry about other when he is better and then try to eat/drink something that is CORN FREE and HE WILL EAT. More tomorrow. Keep up the good work PRAYER WARRIORS and love and God's grace surround you all."

"Our most recent report: Well Glen McDade made some improvements, They have reduced several of his medicines and changed some also, but he won't be coming off the vent today, they won't even try with his numbers where they are.
They want his oxygen on the vent to be 40%, but right now he is at 60%. They want his PeeP # to be 5 and his is 14.
Still good news is his heart is getting stronger.
He has a mild temperature, so they are doing urine and sputum culture to rule out infection. Don't want to assume he just hot natured. He bounces back and forth, climbing as much as 101, then down to 97.9, but not any higher or lower, knock wood 🌲🌳🌲
Still working on tube feed that is CORN FREE, but they have him on IV feed that is giving him nutrients. They also have a protein pack that they can do thru his feed tube when they do his meds that is CORN FREE, so thinking that would at least be something. We WILL GET BETTER!!!!!!

Praying for a quick and complete recovery. I'm sure glad it's going good but what a deal. I hate getting worked on.  I've never experienced anything of that magnitude.  He's tougher than I am. 

We should all chip in to send him a really nasty cam just to cheer him up.  Like the kind you need fly cut pistons for that barely idles...

"Glen McDade May be able to eat soon!! Not food of course, but they did finally get some tube feed supplement that is CORN FREE!!! They going to hook him up soon and we will go from there. PRAYERS that it works and gives him some energy and strength to heal."

"Dr Searcy was just in and they reduced Glen McDade PEEP from 14 to 12 and just now to 10, he is on 50 % oxygen from the ventilator....hopefully he can again maintain 100% oxygen saturation.
They also express ordered and got just a little while ago the tube feed that was corn free!!! So now they are going to hook that up and see how that goes. Digestive nutrition Will be better than the IV bag nutrition, although that was good till we got better.
More PRAYERS that this all works and he keeps making progress even if he turtle crawling. He is in low gear, but he is moving forward.

Another update: 

"Well we got moved down the hall, not sure why, but he is doing good. Glen McDade has been off the ventilator all day breathing off the wall oxygen thru his trachea tube.
Moving better now that the proposal is out of his system. Still need work there, but able to move legs in bed some and shift, also able to write some although I am not able to read (not able to read his writing before) and barely can read his lips so he gets frustrated, but just proud he is able to be aggravated.
Tomorrow we start working on some more respiratory therapy and also some physical therapy, I don't know if "physical therapy" will do it or if he will have to have a couple more days to build a little more strength. Maybe need occupational therapy to come by and see him.

He is at a local hotel recovering, and doing therapy.  They wouldn't let him go home due to the dogs, and some open incisions.  He has a nasty bed sore, due to incompetent nursing I guess.  I will let him know to try to post up here.  He has lost 60 pounds.

That will help him as much as the surgery.  With more energy I think he will slim down a little more, just hope he does not over do it.

   They say I had a pleural effusion aka blood clot went into my lung. 
I flat lined and they were all very surpirsed that I came back as good as I did.

Pleural effusion isn't a blood clot into the lung that is a pulmonary embolism. Pleural effusion is fluid build up around the lung

I finally shed off this lump of dead flesh from the center of that bed sore the size of my ring finger.  Over night. I felt much better.  It looked and felt like a sliver of liver and stunk like rotting flesh    feeling better but my sister wouldn't let me go home and move my truck, so the guy bringing my trailer could get by a little easier.

After almost 2 months I finally trimmed and shaved the beard I had grown, .  I shaved before my surgery and today it was about an inch long.

I waited that long because of the hole where the teach tube was had to heal up
