I love 3.4, the only reason I went to a 4 banger was to simplify things a little bit. I love both the 3.4 and 2.7

Use a small 3-4'' skinny wheel on a die grinder. I've trimmed A LOT of sheet metal free hand that way!

I didn't make soup bowl, it was my first attempt. I got very close to rolling actually lol.

Thanks, I've made all my cuts with a 4.5 angle grinder. First using a cutting wheel, then shaving it smooth and straight. Works pretty good!  :smokin:

I don't have any updates on my truck, but I have made some progress on my dads 4runner his having me build for him. It's being built it as a mild crawler/DD.
He wants it to be able to do Rubicon this summer.
Picked it up 5 months ago like this: 1997 5speed 3.4L

Installed new suspension on it:

Decided to go with 35's. they are 315/75/16 Goodyear MTR's on 16x8 et0 Mickey thompson classic III

Coilovers cranked up to 4.5in lift:

I'll get better pictures of this soon, really happy how this is coming together though!  :beerchug:

The runner looks almost perfect!  I've been trying to find a decent one to buy and hopefully set up similar to this for a hunting and expedition rig.  I'll be interested to hear how you like the ride and handling of it with this lift.

What brand coils did you use on the runner? You said you had them cranked up to 4.5" of lift and the most I can find is 3.5" of lift? BTW both rigs are the :pokinit:

Toytec ultimate coilovers(they are listed as a 3" lift but I cranked it up to 4.5) also running their uca. Very happy with both products, alignment zero'd out nicely. Ride and handling is smooth.

Nice rigs. On that runner though, its my understanding that there is only 8" of total suspension travel stock, 4 up and 4 down, so if you actually were able to crank those coilovers up to 4.5" lift, which would be very hard and cause coil bind, you would have zero down travel, crap ride and burn through inner cv boots monthly if not sooner. And watch those ball joints.Got any pics from the front of that suspension?
I have an 02 taco that has the same ifs as that runner, even when I had camburg(sway a way) coilovers cranked to just under 3" the ride was not great and the inner cv boot fins rub.

Thanks. Yes, the coils are cranked up to 4.5inch lift, are you running stock UCA's?
The ride is smooth. Is it like stock? No. Is it a comfortable daily? Absolutely.
CV axle boots have been stretched. Been driving it for 2 months, no leaks. Inners are allpros long travel cv boot.
This is not a rock crawler (IFS) and will see little trail time so I'm not too concerned about wheel travel. It will handle the Rubicon no problem.
ORS manual locking hubs will be installed to help against CV axle wear eventually.
