Not too much to report.  I've been busy with other stuff and I was sick for almost two weeks last month.

Anyway.   I got the new windshield installed and all the door glass and trim put back on.   Fenders installed, etc.

New driveshafts.

Still waiting on a guy who is going to build the exo for me.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Left over from parting out Lexus's.  Every v8 car has two of them.   I get about $80.00 a piece for them from the recycler.

What's the story on the Chevelle behind the cats? SS396? Looks kinda like a 69 or so from the bit of quarter panel poking out there...  :burnout:

Love me the 67s though...

It's a 1970 SS396.   It was my first car.   Bought it in 1988.   If I can ever get my shop built I'll get it restored but it's been sitting for many years now.

Pic from when it was on the road.

You know I was thinking that every really bad ass truck, needs really bad ass suspension too.  Hint hint. :bayer:

If I do that it will never get wheeled.  It's been down long enough.

I just wanted to post a bit of an update.

After getting the exo off to a great start, the builder let it sit in his shop for nearly 2 months and didn't touch it.  The whole thing was only supposed to take a week and a half so I was a bit disappointed to say the least.   I ended up having to just get it back as is.   On top of that the main hoop is rubbing the bed on both sides to it's completely effed up.      I'll probably have to re-spray the bed when the cage gets done.

This is the point where I wished I had just bought the bender, die set and tube notcher to build it myself.  The whole reason I didn't was because I would have had to learn as I went along at bending tube and I didn't want it to take forever.   I had been waitng on the first builder since February to finally start the project in May.  It's now August and still barely half done.   :hammerhead:

I have another builder that has agreed to build off what is already there and I'm supposed to take it to him next week.   I am going to have him make a few changes on some stuff that was either royally screwed up or I just plain didn't like.

It supposed to go to another guy's shop for the tube work next week......We'll see.

Don't think I didn't contemplate just taking it off alltogether and just putting my sliders back on and wheeling it as is.

Ugh... lame. Sorry to hear about that; hope shop #2 doesn't #2 on the tube work.  :crossed:

Guess what?   They did.   :maddest:   At least it didn't take as long as the other one to tell me.  I don't know what the deal is.   With the economy the way it is you would think that people would be lining up to do the work.   At this point I'm going to cut the partial cage off the truck, finish up the rest of the stuff and wheel it the way it is.    I going to buy a bender and build it myself at a later time.  Hopefully there won't be much bodywork to redo....again.   :hammerhead:

Ok.  So the exo idea is dead, at least for now.  At some point I will buy my own bender and build it how I want.

I am rebuilding the front axle since it's been 10 years since I first built it.   I eventually want to upgrade it to an FJ80 front axle but I still haven't bought all the upgraded parts.  I still need to buy the FJ80 Longfields and have a tie rod & draglink made.

I just got these new knucles and hi-steer arms for the 80 axle from Hellfire Fabworks.

Here is a comparison of the mini steering arm and mini birfield compared to the 80 series stuff.

Nice. Will the MC 25mm pin work in those? Those arms look beefy.
