I didn't measure them but they looked the same when i had them out together.  the rust could make the older one look a little bigger.

damn, all you have to do is tack up a few things for mock up and you get a whole new page on your thread of good jobs. anyways...good job,  on gettin the parts. haha    and IM GUNNA WORK ON MY CHIT!

I haven't seen one with studs before. All I have owned/seen had just bolts. Ayway, I believe the bolts I've used on 60s were 7/16, possibly 1/2 but I'm pretty sure they were 7/16.

BTW, you might want to keep an eye out for a cheap 14 bolt. I have a suspicion you will kill those 30 spline shafts. If you chop off the 14 bolt from the spindles out, you can set them up on the 60 tubes and will be able to use 35 spline shafts. Sometimes easier than boring the housing.

i had heard of that from a few different people.  i just didn't have a source for 14 bolt spindles.  i didn'y really think i would kill the cromo 30 splines, i actually thought the output would blow before that.  but we will see how well it holds up.  i have the old ones as spares i guess.

freds40

What are you running for gears in the axles?
"between projects"

Hyena

5.38's.  and they are 7/16's studs.  i think i counted like 22 TPI, but i don't think that is right.

freds40

With 5.38s your output should do alright. Cracks me up when guys run big tires with 4.10s and wonder why they break the output.  :gap:

Standard 7/16 bolts are 14 or 20 TPI.

ok, its a 7/16's 20 then.  i guess home depot doesn't have any kind of 7/16's nuts so i will head over to Osh tomarrow.  and i wouldn't run 4.10's because of that reason.

this is going to take for ever, no hammers for me this year  :(

dont go all out with the 60. just gear it and weld it up for the trip and keep the stock shafts. then build it up more when you get back.

I will break a stock front 60 garrantied.  over $3000 i am estimating to finish it.  maybe i can take out a personal loan.

Hyena

Ramrod

alright alright, theres been a ton of coilovers for sale on pirate lately.  or are you thinking coils?

Hyena

either 2.5 airshocks or coil overs, can i buy yours?

Ramrod

ya i'll sell them too you if you want to replace them with an equivelant set within the next month

kiyul4130

hahaha, sounds like no deal.

the 2.5 air saws are pretty sick. you have to drive your rig around for a little while to get them to settle in, probably even a few wheeling trips but there sick. deffinetally beef. i helped put them on my friends rig. got them on all 4 corners.

ya its just a 2000 pound mile marker.  no heavy pulling with it.  i already broke the line once.  hopeing the pully will help take some of the stress off of it.  i made the whole pully at work last week.  Now the rear is done except for shocks but that will come last.  time to move on to the front axle.

Shoyrtt

Looks good.  One thought though, is there any chance that the line gets bound up between the pulley and the bracket if there is any slack in the line? It looks really close, so I'm guessing it is good. :dunno:

Ya it can get bound up, but only if the line slides off.  i need to add a couple pieces of flat bar on the sides so it doesn't happen.
