dual battery question

i got a optima battery cheap. it is a deap cycle yellow top  . so i want to use it for my lights ,cb and winch .what would be the best way to run my stuff without changing my stock battery system . my other battery isnt a deep cycle ive read some stuff on here but its a little over my head . any help would great

:yesnod:  that's the only safe way to do it.  You should never link gel and wet batteries together, but it's totally fine if they're isolated.  Isolaters are cake to hook up too, so it's always shocked me how many people I've worked with have struggled with it.

ok this may sound stupid, but here it goes  cant i just run a alt wire to the other battery for charging and leave one battery for the motor and factory systems and use the other for my lights and winch with out connecting the 2 batterys . they well just share a alt wire ?

the dual battery is kit from darren is 129.  i can't remember what mine cost, but i think it was around 200.  he made mine so that it replaces the factory vent in the center of my truck

Which is identical to putting the batteries together in parrallel
