Looks like that should work out great for you.  Just clean up the shortcuts and make it reliable, you'd be set.

It's a lot of pretty simple fixes; just going to take them one at a time and keep the truck in running order. I did 'find' a bolt for the power steering but I either put the belt on the wrong groove in the crank pulley, or it's got the wrong crank pulley. The belt's a little crooked but it hasn't fallen off yet.  :crossed: I got the driveshaft yokes switched out yesterday and need to do something about the pinion angle; it has a shim that may be in backwards and a 1/2" spacer. Those may go bye-bye today, we'll see.

After replacing an 80 amp fuse (and a lot of :headscratch:) Matt came out and we de-smashed his Runner's roof and took out the windshield. Today he's getting a new one to toss in. There may be some fender trimming and spring-lowering in store as well. We're hoping to finish early enough to hit up Mt Herman later today or tomorrow sometime. The weather's supposed to be pretty good the rest of week, but this is Colorado so anything can happen.

Yesterday after waking up later than I had hoped I stitched in some metal on the floor "temporarily", remounted the harness bar, finished patching the rusty frame and went wheeling up Old Stage along 379 towards Eagle Rock; or at least that's where I thought we were going. I think we were heading towards Mt. Baldy instead, but we didn't quite make it. I'll load pics and let them do the talking... it was quite an experience to say the least. I'm just glad that:
A) My heater works
B) Flatbeds are light
C) I've got a winch!
D) Engine didn't explode

"Let's go wheeling today!" -everyone "Ok!" - everyone "It's 4pm, don't you think it's kinda late to start?" - a couple people "Nah, we're only going up Gold Camp Rd to 379" - me.

It's nice that guys realize sometimes it's easier just to agree with the girl and do what she asks. Although 8 hours and home at midnight was a bit much, hehe. Matt wanted snow and yeah - he got it.

Where's your sense of adventure? We'll bring shovels next time... and a few other important items, I made a list.

I stitched together a real exhaust yesterday; it's nowhere as loud as it first was but it's still got some grunt to it. I had some 2 1/2" leftovers from another project so that's what I used... I'd rather use 2" or 2 1/4" but it's all I had to work with. I have decided to seal up a few leaks (oil pan) and keep the 22R for now and save/buld a 3RZ for later. This way I'm not spending money on an engine that I'm going to eventually replace. As long as the 22 keeps chugging along, fine. I was initially thining of rebuilding the other 22R block and getting some go-fast parts for it and doing a swap later, but I'd be $$ ahead (and technology too) doing the 3RZ. Plus it's what all the cool kids are doing!

Today I want to check the steering and brakes, maybe mount the KC and reverse lights too. Matt, you need some Longfield wiper seals BAD! I'm getting some when I can; they're pretty slick and easy to install-after you figure it out the first time.  :hammerhead: And at only $35, why not?

Got the front turn signals hooked up tonight; made some mounting tabs for the reverse lights too. Working on front KC lights/mounting locations etc. I might try to figure out why the LEDs don't blink (turn signals) with the brakes on. They work fine otherwise... and I have never seen so much duct tape used on wiring in my life. Awesome...  :slap:

More re-wiring tomorrow and maybe I'll start on the steering debacle. Or brakes. Or rear shims. Or... whatever.

You gotta wire in a trailer light converter to make those LED's blink with the brake lights.

Schweet, thanks! The kid gave me some relay with 3 wires to hook to something but he didn't say what or where. He just said it was for slower blinking turn signals; I'm getting around to that soon.

Uh, I am just going to check them out to make sure they're okay. They got squishy towards the end of the trail the other night. I was told it has Cruiser calipers/rotors up front and stock drums out back. The rotors are vented so I guess they're Cruisers? No idea... I'm in no hurry to screw around with fancy-pants rear discs but it's not a bad idea. That'll probably wait until after the 3RZ swap someday.

I cleaned up the tail wiring; removed a few feet of overlapping wiring and the horrible solder jobs. Have you ever seen wire soldered to a ring terminal? Me neither, but there's a first time for everything. The reverses come on but I am considering hooking them to a toggle as well for rock lights when needed. Tomorrow is final wire clean-up and I want to mount the KCs up front somewhere, maybe with some expanded steel for a guard.

If you still have a top-shift case I'll take it at the Jambo; I have a forward shift already but I still doubt it has 4.7s like the kid said, it seems too fast to have 4.7s. Lame.

In time... in time.

Oh yeah, I got used 37" MTRs mounted up today too. They're "balanced enough"... maybe that death wobble will go away now.

i only have 2 forward shift cases right now, but i might have a top shift by the jambo

and on the 4.7 gears, pull the rear drive shaft off the back of the t-case, have buddy watch for how many rotations the flange makes, and spin motor over with a 19mm wrench on crank pulley bolt, 2.28 spins on crank pulley bolt to make flange spin once brings the suck, and 4.7 spins on pulley bolt brings the win

Let's hope for the win... I'll check it later today. The truck has 4.11s so maybe that's why it's faster than I think it should be if it has 4.7s.

But what do I know?

urs did rev pretty high when you were wheeling it it seemed more like a 4.7 cause i didnt realize u had 411 axle gears... with stock gears ur truck could barely wheel u would be clutching so much... i ran stock everything and 33s and it was unbearable...

i bet your truck looks good with them 37s on there now :D

My camera cable is AWOL for now... have to load pics onto a printer then switch them onto a jump drive then back on to the computer to photobucket to link to here...

Suck.

But they'll be here eventually; after the battery charges. Here's some for now:

Up Old Stage:

I need more clearance, Clarence!

Today I took off the "light bar", re-sealed the windshield, put on (matching) mirrors, tied up rear light wiring and inhaled a lot of dust/rust. There's a good deal of it at the bottom of the A pillar on the driver's side and along the passenger side top. None of it was rusted completely through; mainly surface rust but it's still there and annoying to me. I don't know what I'll do tomorrow; something awesome I bet.

Since I got a spare turbo/tach dash with the truck, how hard would it be to put the tach in my non-tach dash? Wiring isn't my strong suit...

It's a little taller now too:

Another poser pic:

Exhaust--not the best but it was all free:

Gotta have some flair: :bling:

Next week's big ticket project will be sliders from Scotty at Addicted, followed by brakes and steering (again/still).

See? It's got hi-steer...

Bled the brakes and clutch, tied up the diff breathers, checking the steering (turns more to the right) and trying to figure out how to get rid of the LSPV thing... it's got 2 lines coming in somehow; one is marked IN and the other has an arrow or F going out. The last LSPV I got rid of only had 1 in and 1 out line; I think. This one here is confusing me and it's way too dirty to easily see where the lines actually go. :dunno:
I think I have a turbo booster from looking at a few other trucks here; pics to follow later.

De-shimmed and de-spacered the rear axle, re-shimmed it the right way to correct the pinion angle (which is dead-on now), may have to shim the front, patched the right side framerail since it was starting to bubble/rust, pulled out the Subaru seats, discovered more rust on the passenger floor, starting to weld up all the random holes in the floor from previous seats/whatever. After that's fixed I'm going to undercoat inside and get some sound deadener/heat shielding stuff in there. Cutting off the old "sliders" and may be using them as side rails/tie down points for the flatbed. I may get around to putting the bed box on this week sometime too... :crossed:  school is in session and all that.

Passenger side done and undercoated, driver's is almost done. Maybe a 2x8 section to weld in tomorrow. Old sliders are still on, I was too happy welding to start cutting... plus I ran out of that keg we bought last week.

Patched up the last of the rust to include the left cab corner. Undercoated everything; it looks pretty nice now. I'm going to dig into the wiring today and put the 4Runner seats in; those Subaru seats are too low in the ass-end... hurts my back.

Here's my latest dilemma: I have a built front axle with 5.29s/Lok-Rite/IFS brakes/hi-steer that I want to stick under the truck... here's what's under it now: 4.11s/Detroit/IFS brakes/hi-steer. I want to keep the Detroit and 5.29s; can I swap thirds or do I have to tear apart both and rebuild with the Detroit? This will be my first time messing with Toyota axles so I have no idea what I'm doing. Well, I have a few clues but no solid leads.

Balls...    So I guess there's no point in keeping the Lok-Rite in since I have a Detroit, right? Dang.

I'll dig into that later; I just finished putting the interior back together, going to rewire all the F-ups now.

I'll add pics later tonight, promise.
