Just got my 5.29 rear all set up.. its tits. The front i got is junk though. Hopefulyl my buddy will let me just run it for the weekened and then give it back. The gears are after marker and from 1992! insanely old for 5.29s....

Relentless

Got the 5.29s in before the con on Friday. The rear 8.4 diff was set up with new gears and is dialed. The front diff had blown up gears but I put themn in anyway so I could go wheelin. Turns out theyre really messed up now. I need a new diff with 5.29s now :( Got the front shock towers and shocks in last weekend.

Only thing I really need to do to the runner anymore is finish the fender trim, new front diff, trim some more, get some rears up front, and new front shocks and its pretty much dialed. I could get some new hubs since superwinch = super gay.

Ill get pics later. The trip was sick. Hella snowed on us Saturday night. Woke up to 2-3 inches of snow.

thats interesting as far as the numbers go but as far as real world and JUST what I have personally seen, 5.29s have blown up countless times over 4.10s. i cant think of any of my friends that have popped a 4.10 factory setup diff. do they break, of course but ive never met anyone that has, nor seen broken 4.10s.

Yeah thats how I feel I have seen countless and experience countless 529's break but never a stock 410 gear set or a 488 gear set blow up.

NoPower

Wow your pics were GREAT. Looks like a real fun trail

Yea but there are other factors to consider as well..  You would think that all of the stock 4.10s were set up PERFECTLY from toyota..  Who was the one setting up the 5.29's?

It may be a factor of not being setup correct, not being broken in correct, etc...

Also it could just be, we all run 5.29's it seems like, i don't know too many people running 4.10's anymore.

Jud

4.88's blow up just as much as 5.29's. theres sooo many factors in this bull crap. tires, tire size, tcase gears ratio, driving style, setup, break in, lockers, brand, all metals are NOT created equal (idk what people say), theres just soo many factors. You run two 4.70 cases, 4.10's, lockers, 40" tires your still gonna break them if you bind up or get it just right. I don't want any bs arguments back. this is how I feel about it and nobodys gonna change it so don't bother. Some people in this thread like to argue WAYYY too much. just shut your mouth and do your own research.

"bout tree fiddy"

lilbuddy

Jud is pretty much right.

Mostly a gearset can be just as strong as any other if the setup and break in is titties.

still not as strong as a 1ton though
