First off, im a die hard toyota fan. I love all toyotas, from cars, to trucks, to the forklifts. I love em. They are the best small pickup in the world, or so I thought. The other day my buddy got a pud ass nissan 4x4. Piece o' junk. 31 inch street tires, no lift, mods, lockers, nothin. Well he was talkin mad crap bout my yota. Mines got 31 mt's, sorta pumped 22r (cam of some sort, and maybe valves), and a rear locker. i told him my yota would drag his across the ground. Well, we hooked up, he cheated the first pull, and just started yanking, so of course he dragged the hell out of me. Well we tried the second time all legit, and he STILL pulled me. Not a little bit, he dragged the HELL out of my toyota, his clutch was dumpin smoke out, and my yota was still hopping backwards. Im disgraced and just wanted to vent, im at a loss of words. The video will be on youtube in a few days, and I will post a link to it.

A buddy I used to wheel with had an early 90s Nissan 4 banger.  That thing had BALLS compared to my 22re with a cam , header etc...  He could smoke me amywhere in high range.  However, every time he followed me on a trail ride his steering puked.  Finally after multiple center link replacements he just quit wheeling the thing.

I bet he cheated & stuck in in 4 lo. Tell him you tweaked the motor a bit & challenge him to a re-match. Stick it in 4 lo but don't lock the front hubs

You didn't say if his was a truck too or a Pathfinder. (Weight over the rear tires) And yes Nissan's have way more HP than a Yota, thats part of Nissan's selling tactics.   :driving:

Exactly.  ....And if it was done on pavement the vehicle with the street tires will have more traction because they have a bigger contact patch than off road tires because of the tread void.

Tell him your Toyota is an off road truck, not a tow truck.   If you have a locker you should whip his ass off road.   Tell him to go wheeling with you.  Have him lead and you follow.  go anywhere he wants and when he gets stuck you will pull him out of the way and then drive right through where he got stuck.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

It is probably his wasted clutch that allowed him to win.  As soon as your tires start to spin, your done.  Maybe his clutch was slipping so much that he did not break traction.   Next time, stand on the brakes at first.  When his tires break traction, then slowly apply power, dont just drop the clutch.  But then again, I would not challenge him to another pull off.  Maybe just go wheeling, if he shows you up on the trail, it just means he is a better driver, not a better truck.

I agree your toyota is disgraced... By the driver, running your mouth sure worked out for ya didn't it? :talkingn:
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Rocksurfer

Pulling is all in how you do it, I remember one time my brother and I came across an IH Scout II mired in the mud in the creek behind the Little Rock Dam. A fullsize Ford tried to pull it out and broke a motor mount, a fullsize brand new chevy tried and blew his trans. My brother and I offered to give it a shot in our little Toyota's and got some healthy laughter from the crowd. We then told them we'd pull it up over the bank instead of back out the way it came, they laughed even louder. The guy in the IH was drowning in the mud and didn't care and told us to give it a shot. Ten minutes later he was sitting on dry land.

Hooking bumpers never really proves anything at all.... There are too many variables that could give one an advantage over the other...

Sorry to hear about your truck.  Are there any kind of truck accessories you can add on to give some more torque or power?  You ever considered a turbo kit?

Sparkplug

I didnt say mine was better, i merely thought because I have good tires, more weight, and a rear locker, that my toyota would pull his nissan.
