Thanks guys I had a ball.  I am gonna head out and make the drive home here in a few mins.

Thought I would update a tad bit.  Tho most of what ive done has been to try and fix my death wobble and drive line vibration.  I think redoing my front bushings solve the wobble.  Need to drive it more.  The drive line vib is better since I got a new shaft but its like 2"s short so im on the very end of my slip yoke which isnt good.  It vibrates some times then fine others.  It has to be the CV.
I installed a new drivers seat which feels pretty good so far.  I cut my original seats up and used them to make the newer seats fit in stock location.

As soon as I can get another front drive shaft and rear plus a spare ill be ready for the con again.   :crossed: :turtle:

crazykooter

Welp I think ive sorted almost all the kinks back out of my truck besides the drive line clinking.  It may be I havent set the rear pinion angle but I get no vibration at all so it makes me wonder.

I finished painting my newer rear bumper I got and plan to install it tomorrow.  Besides that since I am dead broke I will have to wait for any real upgrades.  I do have some left over 1/4" plate I am gonna make axle armor with.  Lord knows after the con run my axles really need it.  :disturbed:

Just a little update.  I started hearing things which I thought was coming from the engine compartment but since my truck is rather loud I wasnt sure till today.  It turns out my trans is going out and doing it rather quickly.  Just 2 days ago I heard a slight whine which is why I thought maybe a belt or something.  Well today I was heading back from a friends shop and the whine is more of a howl.  Its extremely noticeable on decel.  Plus I get a chatter at any rpm above 3k.  Sounds like a fan hitting the shroud but its not. Ive replaced engine mounts and trans mount with no luck.  So I pull the boot off my tcase shifter so I could hear if the sound was coming from around there.  Its def coming from the trans. Both sounds are.  So in a matter of less then a week its went from being pretty silent to outright loud.
Not sure how I am gonna get it fixed at this point.  It only has 1200 miles on it, but since I cant really explain more into the new trans thing I will just have to grin and bare it.

crazykooter

Thought I would upload a few pics I took with my cell of the fill and drain plug from my trans.  I rubbed it with my fingers and felt some larger pieces of metal so thats what bothers me most.  :sad2:

What do yall think ?

I've also seen way worst in other rigs and my own.  If the other pieces arent any bigger than whats there i wouldnt worry about it.

Maybe I missed it but, who did you buy it from? Don't they have a warranty of any sort?
DD, 22R, L52HD, 35"s, All pro/Marlin Hysteer, 529's, Aussie Locker in rear only. 5" All Pro springs and 5" shackles. Just purpose built and dependable. A/C blows like ice too... www.4x4HIM.org

What you see on the plugs is most of it but inside that goop is a few pieces that were noticeable to me.  Most of the time its just fine particles which is good.  Either or its whining pretty good in all gears just worse in 5th atm.  Either or I will drive it since I dont have many options.  The warranty is kind of hard to explain.  Well see what happens.
I need to take my rear drive shaft out and take it down to have the cv u joints replaced since I broke our huge bench vise removing another u joint.  Looking for a good Wilton to replace it.

Been a while since ive posted any updates.  yesterday I cut off old front spring hangers and then welded on a front drop bar and welded up some spring hangers.  Today I finished the job by making a set of ruf springs.  Not sure if its lifted any more or not but it def rides better and my steering is correct now.  Im pretty stoked with it so far.  Here is some pics of it.
Plus I got a new to me set of tires and rims.  They were spray painted black which drives me nuts.  The wheels are welds and are in pretty good shape now that ive cleaned em.

fordh8r

Looks good buddy!

Are you gonna brace those front hangers more?  ???

crazykooter

The front hangers are on very solid.  I was going to make some braces for them for looks but its not really needed.
Its gonna be tough from here on out since I have to drive to byron to work on my truck.  My ole man is pissed off of late and I cant figure out why.
Looks like I may be homeless here in a few days if I cant sort it out.  Oh well teach me to be on SSDI and try to live in california.

fordh8r

I guess what I was getting at is that you may want to box in the end of the square tube and brace the back end of the hanger (as seen in the 3rd picture) to the frame so the openess of the tube won't have the potential of collapsing with the forces that cross section of tubing will see even with normal driving let alone some hard wheeling. that's all.

crazykooter

Hey all Been a While since ive updated this thread.  Thought I would post a few pics of some newer additions to my rig since MCR.  Still have a lot more work to do but by this summer I will hope to have an E locker front and maybe even one in the rear. All depends on my luck at pick n pulls.
Since MCR ive swapped out the front axle with a fully gusseted hosing, 27 spline Longfields and 6 shooter knuckles and arms.  The rear is still together but I have a 1st gen gusseted axle with alloy usa shafts and a v6 third that has Yukon 5.29s and a Yukon spool in it.  I still need to get a dual case setup but a friend is suppose to give me his after he rebuilds his other set.  Most of the parts ive upgraded with have been a trade basis so its worked out well for me.   I also got some 35x12.50x15 BFG ATs which were like new.   I will be posting some more pics soon as I am taking ALL my drive-train suspension and swapping it to a 79 Yota which besides it being primer it has like 2 dents in the whole truck and its a short bed.  Other nice thing about it is that its a deluxe so it has factory a/c and P/S.  Also have a internal cage already in it.

crazykooter

Just thought I would post pics of the 79 yota I am gonna be swapping over to.  Its got a body lift on part of it but that will come off plus the whole truck is gonna get sanded any dings or dents fixed and then primered till the weather is suitable to spray in.  I plan on removing all the interior and bed so it will get paint inside out.  Also frame is gonna get wire wheeled and painted.   I am gonna paint it a sweet ars red and put a full exo on it to protect it.  Not sure what color I should use on exo tho.  Kinda wanted to stay away from black.  Maybe ill go with a green or something lol. I should be pretty freaked when I take on the trail the 1st time but hey thats what the exo is for.  Anyways This truck should be awesome by summer.  Just need the DAMN rain to stop.

Yota87Truck

BTW those rims break easily if you smack them against a rock.  But you cleaned the paint off nicely.  They look good.

crazykooter

I have a set of steel rims that are sitting there waiting for me to swap them over.  I never planned on using these on the trail.  Would like a set of 37 MTrs for the trail :) And thanks

crazykooter

Just thought I would post a few pics of a few things ive got lately.
1st one is this E locker which needs a need carrier bearing.  Soon to be in the front of my truck.

This air tank a bud gave me and I am gonna be mounting it on the inside frame rail.  Should work great as a reserve tank.

Heres a few random pics of what ive been doing the last few days.  I think this valve cover looks sweet !!
