97 Taco 350 v8 Conversion Questions
« on: Aug 03, 2009, 01:55:52 PM »
So my roommate is getting tired of her 97 v6 A/T taco .. and is wanting to trade me straight across for a Dodge of mine. I have a few questions on the complexity of swapping in a 383 stroker or base 350 carberated motor into the taco. It would be a long term project so time invested isn't a huge issue but my plan would be to straight axle, swap out tranny/axles/etc. and use it as a show truck is the body is in perfect condition. Has anyone out there done this before and possibly has a write up as to the complexity of dealing with the electronic side of it? I've swapped 22re's and Cummins motors but never a fuel injected truck to a carbed' any help or sites to look at would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you are set on running a carb, most folks are going the other way. It would be cool to slide in an LS1 with an overdrive auto trans along with a stretched out wheel base on one tons. Set it nice and low all 4 linked up on 42's. It might be kinda hard keepin it show truck ready when you start hitting the hammers!
