efi conversion questions
« on: Sep 22, 2005, 10:52:10 PM »
So say I found an 89 with the complete efi setup.  If I wanted to use it to convert my '80 to efi I was wondering where I need to cut the harness on the 89?  I figured I'd pull every sensor on the engine that had a wire going to it just incase, then replace any if needed, but I'm not sure how far back I need to cut the harness.  I know they're supposed to be more of a stand alone than the earlier efi setups.  Lemme know what you know

  Go to California Mini Truck, they do EFI conversions all the time. Ask for TROY. Here is their link:   http://www.calminitruck.com/

all of the efi related engine wiring is in one harness, that goes into the truck via the bulkhead on the passenger side.  There is one take off that goes down the the back up switch and the o2 sensors as well.  On the inside three plugs go to the ECU.  In the same local are two multi pin plugs that send wires up into the dash and back to the fuel pump.  There should also be another plug under the passenger seat on its way back to the tank.  I would guesstimate maybe 20 wires combined in the two plugs that go up into the dash.  I want to say those two connectors are C1 and C2.

Cool, if nobody messes with it till I can get to it looks like I'm gonna have a little work to do.
