that sucks, ya i heard about you having problems with getting pulled over so i wanted to hear the story. when i build my truck i was also thinking about doing what u said, make a partial fender flare that will snap in with some big ass industrial buttons, that way i can take it off real easily without having anything left behind. it will look pretty gay with mud flaps and flares but as long as it keeps the cops away i really don't care how it looks.

Yeah. I dont like how it looks but it isnt too gay... I am just tired of getting fucked with by the same prick! The flare part is attached to the muds and will come off in one piece.
stupid people shouldn't have kids.

-Matt-

nice thats actually a pretty good idea. didn't even think about making it all one piece.

truck is usually at my house drive by and check it out if you want.

Yeah I Got 1 ticket without any mud flaps and 1 with flaps. Pretty lame, It was the same cop too. He said I need fender flares and mud flaps on the front too. BS! yesterday I made some "flare extensions" that come up off the mud flap bracket to about the 10:00 position and out to the egde of the tread.
If I get pulled over again for mud flaps not being good enough, Ill will probably end up in jail. I will be pissed!

I got pulled over for no mudflaps initially a few years ago, and put them on. Got by fine for years. Then one day during winter I was driving around with them off (hate tearing off my mudflaps in my own driveway in the snow) and I got pulled over. I told the CHP that I had mud flaps, and I put them on right there. But he still wrote me up for needing fender flares. Anyway, I said flopp it and just went to CHP HQ and the officer signed the ticket off. He told me I "should get some fender flares" but didn't make me do it. Same thing happened with my initial mud flap ticket, when getting it signed off, he told me I should get some flares but neither forced me to. If you look up the CA vehicle code in regards to mud guards as they call it, the wording leaves it rather gray, and doesn't give a clear definition stating mud flaps AND flares were a requirement. Obviously if your rig is wide as hell you are going to have a harder time getting away with it, but I think as long as your truck isn't excessivly wide you should be able to get your ticket signed off with JUST mudflaps. Look up the CA vehicle code and print it out and bring it with you just in case. I was ready to get into it with the CHP because it really doesnt make it sound like you actually need both, just "adequate" protection.

well picked up my axles during the weekend, the front dually is being converted to a single wheel dually, and same with the c&c 14 bolt. i already have all the parts to make the conversion so its just a matter of buying but loads of stuff, gears (5.38) arb rear, spool front, 35spline chromos, new hubs, high steer, disk brake conversion, new wheel bearings, and other stuff i know im forgetting. im going to probably make my own diff covers,,unless i can find them really cheap, im also gonna shave the 14b. im gonna start building them first. once im done with those ill start buying my suspension, then tires, and ill probably save the transmission for last since i wanna use the money to help build them when i tear my truck down and sell the suspension, tires, tonneau cover, axle with e locker, and transfer case.

heres some picks
the dually 60 and c&c 14b are in great condition, dude said the truck only had 40k on it. i believe it because there no oil or leaks on anything except where we sprayed wd40 to loosen :pokinit: up. even the original steering stabilizer looks new and the sticker on the d60 housing is still there, but you cant read it cuz the lettering has faded.

on the other hand the srw 14b is a pos. in horrible condition and housing is bend bad. im just gonna use it for the hub conversion, and spare shafts if someone needs them.

c&c 14b on left srw 14b on right

no idea what this :pokinit: means but heres the c&c 14b

Just kidding man. I guess there is, its your bed

-Matt-

im gonna save whats good and toss the rest, my buddy told me i can get money for the hubs im not using on the c&c dually 14b because it makes for a perfect 14b width conversion for someone wanting 63" wide beefy axle to run with a a diamond up front or some other front axle around 60" wide.

heres the rear axle, all i need now is gears and the arb. ill probably get that stuff in 2 weeks. kinda depends on whether im working or not. we are almost done with this remodel so right now im kinda just seeing whats gonna happen as far as money. took a lot of work but it turned out pretty bling. since it was a c&c dually the backing plate needed to be moved 3 3/8 out. i made my own spacers so it would put the disk brake bracket in the right spot and then tacked the :pokinit: out of it then welded it. ended up working great.

i also shaved the lip off the bottom and the bottom sides. gave me an extra inch of clearance. not only did i gain clearance but its also smooth across the whole bottom...no more rock anchor.

THK Matt

WOW!!!!!!! you should pay yourself for that nice chunk of fine axle.

ya its exciting but building a set of 1 tons is so much more money. deff not worth it unless they are getting used to their potential. i didn't realize it until i started to build this set, not only are the main bulky parts more expensive but there's also a lot of little things that need to be bought. the upside is you can hammer down, and once their built,, comparably ,, you shouldn't have to worry about them chundering.

Jud

That axle looks legit. I wanna stick my axle in it!!!

haha ya but there not hard to get. you ended up getting a great deal out of it considering how much you were able to sell that stuff for. its just a :pokinit: load of money to build them up.

i guess it wouldn't be as much if you just wanted to run 4.56s and welded front and rear with basic hysteer and stock shafts. but im doing everything right the first time to how i want it to be.
