um yep all are except the G58,  its a turd,  you can swap the tranny for a w56 then you'll have a much stronger transmission

Yeah Just ask DTB about the G58.   They only came in xtra cab trucks.  He grenaded the reverse gear in his.  I'd look for a W56 with a good geard t-case attacked to it.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Ok people, looking for some advice here.  People have been steppin on the truck ego lately.  LOL.  Specifically, Brian works with a guy who also happens to live just *down* the hill from us.  Therefore, he often hears us going up the hill in the truck, and then proceeds to go to work and tease Brian that the truck doggs down so bad that it doesn't even seem like it's moving.

And damn it, I think he's kinda right.  Not only does it *sound* like it doesn't want to go, but when you're driving it, it feels that way too.  Like there are certain hills where I need to grab 2nd gear and that to me is just crazy.

So to refresh, it's the 4cyl with 33's on it and still has the stock 4.10 gears.  Is the only answer obvious here?  Re-gearing, or going back to pizza cutter tires?  Is it possible we made the exhaust TOO free-flowing that it robbed us of all the low end?  The only other thing we did was the K&N air filter but that's just a filter.
RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:

if you plan on staying with 33s, a factory set of 4.56s will be sweet, you can find them in some automatic 4runners. more power will help too- like a cam, header , ect

79coyotefrg

find a runner with the 4.88's stock,  the axle code is G144

or get them from Marlin

you REALLY need to regear, and being up in them thar mountains you NEED at least 4.88's maybe 5.29's

and dont be afraid to let that thing rev to 4000 rpm before shifting on hills

Just give the 22re some CRACK

Sounds like that could be an expensive fix if it ends up needing it constantly!

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys.  We really appreciate it.  We did already do the LCE header thing.  We'll just have to get it re-geared here as soon as we can and if that doesn't change things well then I just don't know.  lol

I've run the bushings and they worked great fit perfect, the only thing was they were squeaky.

I'm foggy on the details as to what years had what but does that have a mechanical or electronic speedo?  If it's electronic I'll give you my SR5 gauge cluster and all the sending units for the cost of shipping.  All that stuff is coming out of my truck and your truck looks like it deserves the decent stuff. ;)

white trash.. that would be super rockin :boobs:       thank you!   i am in need of a factory set up.  a good friend of mine is lookin for a truck and calls me every time he finds a nice one and we go look at it. i dunno if you have seen the "show us your tach's thread". well a certian some one who is no longer with us   posted in the thread bustin my marbles a lil cause i wanted to put a big ole 10,000 rpm monster tach on the dash  and he said just do a stock cluster...  well my buddy found a cherry 94 and took me with him to test drive and it had a factory tach.. and i was like hey i like the looks of that, and it was like some one gave me one of these   :slap:  said don't be a jerk and just put a factory one like i told you.

rocksurfer  did you have the downey 3 inch rear springs before?  :headscratch: i think i have seen you pop in in a couple threads on the downey stuff sayin that the OEM bushings are what you use for the downey springs. i am looking at a poly master kit that comes with new spring bushings and shackle bushings.... i tried searching and can't find stuff when i wanna,  but when I'm up all night web wheelin i can find anythng when i don't want to  :hammerhead:

Well figure out if you have a cable or a electronic setup and we'll go from there.  I'll be pulling the sensors off my enging before too long.

Rocksurfer

All I've ever run was Downey's 3 inch springs on any Toyota I've built. I'm going to miss them, they were a 1/2 hr. drive from work and a mile from my brothers house. They are actually longer than stock but not so long as to have to relocate the mounts if you used longer shackles. I've used both the OEM and Poly bushings with them which again I got through Downey. One of my brothers used to race offroad in SCORE and the Mickey Thompson's Stadium series and Downey was a big sponsor so I got stuff real cheap from them. On my 84 truck I wore out the OEM's so I went to Poly's, the only thing I didn't care for was after a while they became squeaky once some dust got in them. On road they were fine once I hosed them off. You will find there are quite a few pieces you won't use in the master kit if you have done a lot of upgrades to your rig, still worth the price compared to buying it piece meal.

Smells like it'll work for ya then.  I think the odo only has 128k on it too. :gap:  You'll have to swap your clear cover onto it as mine is cracked but all the gauges and lights work as they are supposed to.
