im so tempted to wire it as a stock gs300 or sc300 and run it N/A untill i can afford to finish the turbo stuff..

at this rate it will be ages before its done ..

what are your main expenses you have left to get it running?

well- as i grow older, i become less willing to use the phrae "thats good enough" and strive for perfection more closely. (that is why i went through 6 intercoolers before i was happy)
\
so with that said, i need a full standalone, and i dont like the cheap megasquirt, so it will be a full AEM EMS or equivelant....so 2-3k

i can right now, buy a header for a N/A, make or have made a harness, and start the truck-providing i find a trans...ect.

Question.... reason you dont want to run a "cheap megasquirt" ????
My friend runs one on his drag car, pretty reliable.

i had it on my race car, i didnt like it, and cheap isnt refering to its quality in this case, it is the overal costs.

i think what i may do- depending on the ammount of my income tax return, is finish the build as a N/A so i can drive it, and attend the next MCR with it, and add the goodies ive already sourced, since they are done, when i can afford a standalone

I like that idea.... run N/A and get used to it and then add the Turbo to it, when you have all the parts to do so "overnight"

i totally agree man. with my s10 on its last legs, my wife in and out of the hospital, and two kids, i need to not spend money on "goodies" and just get the damn thing running so i can enjoy it. and use a little moolah for other important things...like replacing my poor s10

TOTAL WORD ON THAT BROTHA!

Priorities.
Which is why i am not "turbo-ing" my supra or swapping to a JZ.

well, i spent the last few hours stuffing n/a pistons back into this  2j block.

im going to run the truck as a n/a, until i get the bugs worked out, then i will turbo it later.

so as a complete n/a motor, with a header, intake, and tuning, i will be around 260 horse, 275 ft lbs tq
and should get around 25mpg...i hope

since i have the skills and tools, im going to try my hand at making a header out of 1.5 inch primaries, into 3 inch
pics will come this weekend

axled89

that will be a sick ride, power and mpg.   :eye: :eye:
i love oregon wheelin.

I dig the n/a option. Tons more power than stock, and kinder to that toy drivetrain.
I would keep it that way.
No doubt a turbo would be  :bayer: and it would be cool to hear a runner sneeze the blow off rolling down the street.
Undoubtedly whatever you do will be another sanitary installation.

thanks, all 2jz motors came with two manifolds that connest to a large cat, or two y pipe cats

crawlerdan

finished the header, and mid pipe, wrapped it in header wrap :D

yjay

2 headers I bet so they avoid the Jeep 4 liter problem of cracking at the collector (as they all do except for the late models with expansion joints. Inline 6 has a long distance across a single flange for heat expansion.
