Topic: Dont feel like keeping your stock turn signals?

well what i did is, un-hooked my turn signal lights, and un-plugged my parking lights and plugged my turn signal plug into the parking light plug. So now where my parking lights are, are now my turn signals=) if u want to get both, splice em into one another so when ur parking lights are on, the can flash as your turn signal as well. thought it was innovative, if not and u never thought of it..glad i could help=)

Your 194 parking light bulb only has 2 candle power. The 1156 turn signal bulb has 32 candle power. That means the 194 isn't as bright when turned on. Also the with the 194 bulb, the flasher speed will be faster

Serious?  If that bothers you then I'd suggest you go back toyota tech where they coddle people and do nothing but make them feel better about themselves... 


ALthough you failed to mention that you wire the positives together, leaving out the ground wires from each plug.  If you want to slow the flash rate down get an EL-12 flasher from Napa.  Thats what I did when I posted this exact thing in the tech section about 4 years ago....

I did it! My truck has been this way for about a year now. I think they should have came this way. I like being different, but it is kinda hard when there are so many people how have built and customized 2nd gens.

ok well once we get past all this "mean and sarcastic" mumbo jumbo, if you splice the wires together couldnt you use a double filiment bulb like the ones in your head light (high low beam) or would just a brighter one work?

I usually make it here a couple times a day to see who I can piss off.   Whats scary is it was actually over 5 years ago...  thats weird.



yotabox what you'd want is a socket for a 1157 bulb then you'd have to epoxy it to the housing.  Personally I just ran a led 194 in the stock housing and leave it at that.  On this incarnation I have 2" led's for markers and blinkers separately.  Even with load resistors the single led didn't have enough resistance to make the flasher function when wired for dual function..

anywho is the parking light  bulb sockets the same as the turn signal bulb sockets? so i can scrap those 194 and put 1156's?

on my 83 it had a single fillimet bulb in it with a brass base. (don't know the #) I was able to take the guts out and use the guts from a 1157 socket. butt you could just use a socket from napa or carquest that made for a 1157 and has spring fingers to holed in in the hole.

IIRC, that would be an LS6227 or LS6228. I am a little buzzed but it's one of the two. That is the pigtail kit/socket repair kit.
