when to the salvage yard today. got a new radiator that a little shorter so it doesnt hang so low. also got a down pipe for the 2rz, so now i can fire it up and see if it will stay running.
started working on my fuel "cell"  i cut the mounting flange out of the stock 22re gas tank and welded it to the boat tank. worked out pretty well, also had to shorten the fuel pump bracket so it will fit properly.

so when i went to tack the flange to the new tank i didnt flash it first to make sure it wasnt going to EXPLODE............it did :smack:. the first little tack and wooom. no more hair on my arm, burnt my right hand because i wasnt wearing a glove, and burnt a bunch of my beard hair. luckily i had my hood down for the tack. that could have been bad

damn!! good thing you didnt get hurt any worse than that! it could have been pretty nasty.  i am working on a stainless steel fuel cell at work right now.  i scored enough stainless to build a tank 24x24x8 for free!  i'm stoked, i will have to get some pics of my progress.

yeah i am super happy about it.  i am going to put some baffles in this one too.  i got the drain plug welded in it today.  i have to take some measurements for fuel lines and such tonight so i can get the right size tubes welded into it.

ITS ALIVE!!!!!! :yikes:

it acually runs, doesnt just idle for 1 second and die(the first time i tried to fire it the mass air sensor was backwords). i got every thing wired up, got the gas tank mounted and plumed, exhaust. it sounds like a pissed off v8. and by pissed off i mean, pissed off becauce its only running on 4 cyl.

so heres my exhaust. started its life out as a normal magnaflow muffler, but once i got it, its like everything else on my truck, hacked up and rewelded.  now i know your all jelouse of my mad exhaust fabing skills but its okay it all comes with time.

oh and the color of the tank is what im gonna paint the truck. with black scallops

its just a temporary spot untill i back half it

the exhaust isnt going to work for me. i like it quit on a crawler. it will get me to mini's hollister run though. theres really no room for exhaust between the drive shaft and the link mounts and the body, there just no room

what are you running for fuel lines?
just standard 5/16 aluminum. the threads for toyota are different than the ones from the parts store so i cut the ends of the lines off, put the toyota ends on and reflared them. doesnt leak.

funny thing is that it has the the high pressure style lines, but in the tank its just a rubber hose with clamps that go from the pump to the line thats molded into the cap

so i figured i would start my resi for my power steering. since the 2rz has the res on top of the pump unlike a 22re that has it on the fender, and im gonna need a bigh resivor i couldnt just stack two on top of each other like i did on my 4runner(same power pump as 2rz) so i cut the very bottom of the res off so its pretty much just a plate with the fitting that goes in the PS pump. then i welded a barbed fitting to the plate for my fluid supply. after that was done i was looking around my garage for somthing to use as a resivor and i found my old exhaust stinger from my jet ski. the top of the stock res fit perfect on the big end of the stinger. capped the small end off, and welded a fitting for the fluid return. it worked out great, and that thing is huge
