Your dad really said you weren't allowed to drive with your doors off?   I'm sorry, but thats funny!

:haha: I found that quite hilarious as well! Sorry jimbo, but that is just so funny, especially since my parents let me drive mine with no fenders or doors... its my truck, i will do what I want with it. I guess if I really wanted too, i could drive it with no doors, fenders, hood or bed, but that would probably get me pulled over, but maybe not. :dunno:

so somehow the previously mentioned problems with running the AC no longer exist... :screwy: i went and started the rruck to charge the battery (it was dead, i had to swap it anyways) and i wanted to try it to see what was gonna happen, and after like 50 times on then off with the AC at all levels, and all the different vents, it ran just fine... :dunno:

maybe you had a low battery before which was not giving the AC system enough juice to work properly. :dunno: How is your alternator?

i think the alternator is nearly brand new, its very  clean and i think that was one of teh things she mentioned that she replaced...

also, i did swap the battery today so...?maybe that was teh problem?

uh could be. i didnt have it disconnected fro very long though. only maybe like 30 seconds or so. but now i need to replace the connector on the positive battery cable. :smack: whats the best way to extend it so theres still enough spare line to hook up to the post?

ok so...ive got some new plans. pretty realistic i think...:dunno:

1. replace windshield.
2. get body lift ( i think...not fosho yet) 2-3"
3. ball joint spacer and coil spacers for an additional 1.5-2" of lift.

this should set me around 5" of lift total and allow me to clear 35s nicely, with minor trimming. then i will probably clearance my tcase crossmember hopefully get some clearance there... :dunno: then probably one of the first things is too weld my rear end

looks like if im able to SAS itll be next spring early summer once i start workin again.

get a new wire, don't use the crappy quick connect ends... get a quality wire around the correct length with permanent ends.

Well if gas mileage isnt a big concern then run 35s but I think you'd be better off with 31s or 32s to keep it comfortable to drive and still get decent mileage. the more I drive my MTRs the more I love them. my vote goes for a BFG mud or MTR, in a 32 or 33

not real surprising to hear. but at 130ish a tire it might be worth it if i gotta replace em a little more often. who knows though. if i can get the 35 bfgs i already have thats the main plan.

Yeah my friend ran them on his taco for the exact reason you just said, he thought F it they are cheap. About 9 or 10 months later they were toast. he was only driving like 25-30 miles a day too for work

Not really.  Whats a 33" BFG run?  $150 or so?  :dunno:  I've got 40K or so on my BFGs, and they've got a little less than half tread on them.  You'd prolly replace the LTBs at least once in the amount of miles I'll get out of my BFGs.  When you're looking at tires, make sure you take expected tread life into consideration along with price.  If the expected tread life is half the expected tread life of a tire that costs $20-$50, you're not going to save $$ in the long run.

2. cuz i got no where to go, cept wheelin (in dirt) thats like 12 miles on pavement one way

but i like the muds, so well see what i can pulloff. after i told my parents brett gave me the tires, they said they werent his to give. and now ive heard him talking about trading them for an engine for his chevy...im gonna be pretty pissed if that happens. i gotta talk to him tomorrow about it.

Blackdog speaks the truth. The LTBs are nice tires offroad but think about it. Do you really want to get half the life of a BFG to save maybe 25-50 bucks per tire??

Consider this: I bought my 32 bfgs from a guy in Sac. He had driven them for over a year, on the road only. i ran them for another year then sold them to my friend Adam who ran them on his truck for another year and a half. Then, I bought them back (they were on 15x10 black rims), gave the rims to my GF and gave the tires to my friend Wade's dad, who is still using them on his nissan. so that is....about 5 years on one set of tires, who are now onto their fourth owner. they still have 10-15% tread left on em.

So think about it....why have to reinvest in tires every year?
