OK more pics

The axle will need some work to fit.

Rusty parts

Rust pits on the axle. Marks going to weld on it and build it back up.

Mark got a 20lb sand blaster from Harbor Frieght yesterday and got to work cleaning the parts today

Time for a little west and wewaxation

So how bad was the cleanup after the blasting and what kinda sand did you use?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

well considering the yard is mostly sugar sand anyway there is really no cleanup other than sweep up some of it to reuse, and he just used the sandbox sand you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot.
Do people even have sandboxes for their kids anymore? I loved playing in the sandbox. I used to bury my barbies. LOL

one time my friend found a tootsie roll in the sandbox......  :teeth:  he never could find a tootsie roll of that flabor again and i think the cat that left it there was pissed when he came back to find it missing....

i need to get me one of those blast tanks... nice job on that axle, i had the same problem on my 84 axle, i ground it down too thin and it cracked where the spring perch mounts on the tube and started to leak. i am pullin that axle out and going to an ifs rear now.

I tried both a 76 and a 77 Scout II. I came up with the same starter for both under the diesel engine catagory. It says only $85, but I dunno... I am not completely sure if I am looking up under the correct engine.

I also looked up the 1980 6-33T model and came up woth the same thing. It says its a non stocked item though.

Well, it says non stocked and then something about it might take an extra 2 business days to get your part, so it may not be the end of the world

Also says 304, that is not the correct starter. And the picture shows two bolt holes. The right one has three. and should look like this.

that bolt pattern looks very similar to a powerstroke starter...I'm going to dig a little bit around here for you.

I did read on another forum that there were parts from the Ford starter that were interchangable with the starter we are looking for.
