Just registered here, but i've been watching your builds.Keep up the good work man.I'm in the process of buying an 87 4runner so i've gotten alot of good ideas from your builds. How do you like the sound of those speakers?
Sweet! Thanks for the kind words  I have the speakers running off the deck for now, I'm going to hook them up to an amp late. I think they sound good. Start a thread when you get your Runner.

Nice! What's up with the circle on the right?

Save me the tail lights (both of them) off the black runner, I need to buy them off ya.
The circle on the right was from the PO. They marked the spot then they cut the holes in a different spot  :smack:

As for the tail lights, they are for sale so make me an offer.

Any more progress?
Not lately. Right now I have to get the black Runner tore down & get rid of the body since it's junk. Then I'm going to swap the engine in the white Runner. Next will be the tranmission & t-case.

Much better.
I like it too. I like the way it rides now. I have almost no body roll during hard turns & the steering is better.

When I first got the Runner I charged the a/c. It worked for about a month & quit. I was going to convert the a/c pump for on board air but decided to wait. I checked the a/c system for leaks & found 1 fitting loose. I tightend the fitting & rechecked it. The system heald a vacuum so I charged it with some R-12. It's blowing cold now

The service ports are located on top of the compressor right were the a/c lines are.

You must have bought R-134a. R-134a uses a quick disconnect style fitting. You will have to buy a conversion kit. The kit will come with fittings to adapt the quick charge can. Also if you system is empty, you will have to put the system in a vacuum & check it for leaks before you charge it. If you charge it with out putting the system in a vacuum, the a/c won't blow as cold as it should or leak out over time.

Just wondering why you want to do a body lift? I did it to help clear the sliders & before doing the sas. After the sas I thought it was too high. I'm glad I took it off.

I'm gonna take my 2" body lift off also. When I changed out my old lift springs for Marlins 4", it raised it just a bit higher. I'm thinking I don't need it anymore.

bodylifts help in doing a tranny swap.... i just did a tranny swap and couldnt get the tranny high enough to mate to teh engine... ended up taking all the body mounts off, and raising the body, the bellhousing hit the firewall before i could get teh engine aligned

thats when you loosen the motor mount bolts, and rock the engine back and down.  :gap:  But yes, having a body lift helps with all maintenance.  I don't think I could get my hands in some of the places I can w/o my body lift
