Why didn't ya get all the injectors cleaned and flowed?

I'd do a flatbed design for ya, but I have no clue on how to do MS Paint and Photochop.  I've got a flatbed design in my mind, for me.  But I have plans to use my bed for hauling wood, ladders and/or lumber for home repair.  And I'm gonna have removable sideboards.  And get a canvas cover to go over the top while camping, or for winter time hauling.  I haven't decided on a removable fuel tank in the bed, or mount one under the bed?   :headscratch:  Still in the planning stage.

The other 4 are new injectors from when I initially swapped the 88 engine into the truck. The stock injectors were SHOT.

whats the point in putting a shock where the torque rod was???? that is pointless man might as well just take it off all together.... ???
Having a 12 second Honda is just like coming out of the closet; You're going to surprise a bunch of people, but in the end you're still gay.

I am hoping it will still somewhat act as the old rod did. If not I am going to modify the old rod hanger to work with the rod and reinstall it and live with the flex reduction it comes with. That rod is not useless. It is downright scary driving my truck without that rod in it. I will never do that again until I do high steer and the rod is no longer needed.

KDXSR5

So I have been modifying a pic of an all-pro flatbed. I have a few pics to share. This is going to take a few posts.

In this first mod, I show what I would like to do. I would like to put the green in and get rid of the red. This will give me two bars along the bedsides that are about an inch or two apart. I will get rid of the red on the flatbed part itself and modify the bottom to work with whatever fuel tank and toolbox setup I have back there. I will also have to find a spot for my spare.

I will then find or make some fenders similar to the ones in the second pic. This will give my truck a kind of stepside look and will keep mud/gunk where it belongs, near the tire not under the flatbed and on the cab like the all-pro design.

I am thinking I might buy the All-Pro kit and modify it to my liking. I read this build up: http://www.4x4review.com/feature/AllProFlatBed/default.asp and here: http://www.4x4review.com/feature/AllProFlatBed/part2.asp I have decided I do like the design with a few mods. I still need to learn how to weld really well before I attempt it though. Once I do, I will buy it and mod it to my liking, or make my own modeled after it. I am also thinking about tieing in the sliders I plan on installing in somehow. We will see how this turns out. i will probably not flatbed for another year or two, right now i am just gathering ideas.

KDXSR5

So I guess I cleaned stuff and started painting it. In the meantime, I started a short bike build: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=48945.msg613059;topicseen#msg613059

I used all pro's flat bed kit as inspiration, but made it from scratch. Used 1.75 HREW 0.120 wall tube. People rag on the fact it is not DOM but IMO the only thing i would ever use DOM on is link material. Moving on the main hoop has eight bends, top to rear runners have one each, fenders one each. The notch from the fenders on the back was the most complicated and there is a trig formula to figure out the two cuts i said screw that and i just made test pieces. The main bed is all one piece bend on a 20 ton break and tig welded, wing fenders are a thinner diamond plate and bent so one inch overhangs the main bed. 2 inch receiver welded into rear cross member.  Took a month and a half and i was 16 so i am sure you can do it, friends with full fab shops help though lol

I found this pic of the first time I went wheeling and took pics.

KDXSR5

On that same trip, I sank into this quick sand stuff and burried my truck clear up to the frame on this one back corner. I dug for about an hour and a half and threw enough sagebrush and such under the tire that I finally got out. It was kind of fun!

KDXSR5

Ive been getting junk done, started putting the intake and EGR and such stuff on, I need to redo the wiring harness a little bit now and put it in and then I can put everything on the new engine.

KDXSR5

I also started powdercoating the 90 rims to be used for wheels for my winter tires. Here is a pic of it after pulled out of the oven, then it next to a sand blasted 90 rim, then one of it sitting on the ground:

THK Matt

is that a cheap way to powdercoat a wheel? paint it and then bake it?

give us some details on this Todd, if you could.

Yes, it uses electricity to bond the powder to the wheel. You spray the powder on with this gun that electrically charges it, then you bake it for 40 minutes or so. Thats how you powder coat stuff. It is a really nice system, it has been used for wheels (and countless other things) on many different trucks here at school. I like it because it is free through the school and works darn well. If any of you ever feel it or see it, its real powdercoating and no it doesn't flake off. I did a test piece of flat bar I had laying around, and the only way to get the stuff to come off is hit it with a hammer really hard.

engine needs new belts, rad hoses and vacuum lines, then the clutch and flywheel (both Marlin pieces :turtle: ). then it is ready to drop in.

so waht paint did you use on the rims?

High Gloss Black HotCoat powder applied with a HotCoat applicator system. Then baked at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Engine is in, some stuff is hooked up some stuff isn't. Crappy cell pic:

KDXSR5

I hope to fire the engine for the first time sometime within the next week or so. I still need to relocate my battery and do my airbox junk and put the rad in and do the header and the starter and a few other things... yea its getting there slowly

Motor looks real pretty. Have you started it yet? what exhaust setup are you going to run?

Thanks. No I have yet to start it. I have been running an LCE header into custom 2.25 inch exhaust with a flowmaster 50 series for a year now and I am going to keep that setup

KDXSR5

Oh yeah, I had a kid come over and look at the mud tires and I sold the 4 of them for $100... I am keeping the best out of the 5 as my spare.

KDXSR5

I dunno if my hood is going to close over the new radiator... its tall, and the fancy cap doesn't help matters much:

Cheesemaker

I ordered the v6/turbo rad for mine, and it too sat real high.  So, I went back to the 4cyl and it sat a little lower.  I just measured, the top of the cap is 2" taller than the top of the core support.

I wouldn't get it any taller than 2.25", and 2.5" might be too much.
What you could do is to redrill new holes in the core support and lower the rad down what you need.  But that all depends on the fan shroud.  I thought about just lowering the v6/turbo rad down, but I wanted everything to fit in it's proper spot, and not have to modify anything.
