That rig rocks!

I think that once my truck is done, I'd love to do a low budget baja truck!

I had a new sticker idea give to us for this. Image the turtle in flight, about 2 feet off the ground, slightly tilted and he is wearing a sombrero.

I like it!! see what you can do!!

stoken82

that sticker idea would be pretty cool.

haha, i wish there was such thing as a low budget baja truck... hahaha thats what everyone says.. next thing you know it you spent 5k on just the front suspension alone... hahaha

OK!  I really meant more of a pre-runner!

It's either that or a sandrail, and I can DD a pre-runner style truck!  I live near Sandlake recreation area!  Just need a 2wd with some suspension, nothing too radical!  Some buddies have done some with some longer rear leafs, dropped spindles and some really good off road shocks!  Sandlake is only 1100 acres!  Not like going to Glamis, or Pismo!

my 2wd was pretty clean, and daily driven... never left me stuck... well until i rolled it on the road becuase i was too sleepy and had no business driving @ that time....
i took it wheeling a few times, it handled itself quite well, no rock crawler, but could get out of its own way

2wd are the best when it comes to offroad racing.. get some long travel in the front and rear, a cage, and your set.... it's like riding a really fast couch... hahaha  heres a truck we built

Let's put a smile on that face!

Is there a build up or more pics of the truck anywhere?

according to the map  they are in LA  :dunno:

I just got off the phone with Jason. It seems the last time they turned on their GPS was in L.A. at Jason's parents house. As soon as they turn it on in the A.M. it'll update. They are resting up going over details and such. They found a leak in a power steering line, and are trying to fix it. The new paint was getting huge attention in contingency today! Light Force lights was all over it! taking pics and vid of the truck.. Maybe a sponsor?? I'm sure with the press and photographers today the truck will be on a few web sites.. Big Marlin Crawler sticker in place, that will be visible. I will update when I can, Jason is going to call me with updates whenever he gets cell service. By the way it looks, they should leave the line about 12:00 to 1:00 pm west coast time. I won't be able to sleep now for the next 2 to 3 days!! wish i was there!!

Yes.

AAHHH! They have not moved in 20 minutes. At 1:05 it looks like there are about 5 miles outside of Ensenada. #702 is about 35 mile out now.

Bad news, everybody. You'll notice the truck is South of Ensenada if you check the sat tracking:

http://irctracking.com/2007/baja1000/North/

Unfortunately, it's not on course. The freshly rebuilt engine blew 10 miles into the race. Sounds like a thrown rod. In any case, the race is over for the Fireguys.

More news when I have some,
Patrick
