yeah, but we really do mean it, it's too far a drive and three times is more then enough.
I know I personally really won't go again. I've had it with having to pack everything on the Mammoth for 2 days.
I loved the AR Roundup at Superlift where you just parked right at the trails, wheeled all day and went back to camp.

Thanks for the maps Mini  13 hrs to Moab isn't bad. I haven't been there but it is a place I would like to wheel at least once.

I wouldn't mind Hollister but I don't think Hollister can handle the amount of vehicles Marlins event would have. I was there for 4 Wheel Parts Mud in your eye & the trails were bumper to bumper, break downs & roll overs, it just took too long. The nice thing about Hollister is that the town is close so going to get a part isn't a 5 hour trip one way unless you had to walk there.

If not Moab then any other place in Cali is fine with me.

you can't compare the Jamboree...it's a hand-holders trip.  MCR is more like...get to the springs any way you can, and we'll feed you once.  You are on your own.

If it has to be moved from the Con, then the Hammers is closer for me...but I still probably wouldn't make it.

Yup, as I have heard it, with Jeepers Jamboree all you have to bring is your camping gear, everything else is provided.
Everyone stays together, there are spotters all along the route, it's all marked out no guessing which is the best way to go and they have air support.
If anyone breaks down and parts aren't readily available they are flown in.
AND, if I am not mistaken, the entire trail is closed down to anyone but the people involved in the event.
The Jeepers Jamboree's are about the whole weekend. MCR is only about the event at the springs and it has gotten to big to go on the way it has.
Not to mention, because it is the MCR weekend and it is not closed to the public, anything that happens on the trails (such as what I heard about one campsite at Buck Island looking like a public toilet with TP and wagbags all left behind, or people wheeling in off limit areas) will be reflected on Marlin regardless of whether or not they were involved.

maybe they can set up the roundup so that it is more organized so that the trail goes more smoothly.   Look at sierra trek, it is on fordyce which I would say is the most beautiful/ hardcore trail ive ever been on and it goes smooth every year and has a large area for all the rigs to park.  I would no think twice about paying more for a more organized event so that I actually made it to dinner instead of being stuck in traffic all day.  I would also no think twice about volunteering to do the kind of help that is done on sierra trek to keep the trail flowing

I agree with that, and if they decide to make it a more organized Rubicon MCR for future runs that would be cool as doing it on the Con is kind of tradition. But in that case 6 would be our last roundup for now.

There are too many other trails, experiences and events out there for us to do the same trail yet again next year.

Parking/camping in a central area and wheeling out and back from there still has my vote.

Before I went on this last trip, I would have originally voted for the con.  Now I say the Hammers.  All it takes is one person at the Con to give Marlin (and the business he has worked so hard to build) a bad name.  Marlin said at the drivers meeting Friday morning that he wanted no drinking on the trail (at camp was fine), but there are some that choose not to listen.  I am sure this wouldn't be allowed at the Hammers, but is would be easier to send someone who does home.  I will be at MCR7 no matter where is at.

There is no organized drivers meeting, at least not as a whole group of everyone registered, there is no organized run. It's just get to the springs any way you can and that is the event.

It may be in the rules and regulations we got in the registration package (I didn't read it, but we don't drink and drive anyway) but there is no way to regulate who is drinking and driving (and OTHER) on the Rubicon for the roundup as it is and we all know damn well they are.

I totally agree, but there is no way I am going to confront potentially drunk strangers as to their drinking on the trail and as late as we were out there we saw plenty of it.

i chose rubicon. its a nicer area, and its easier to get family to go along.  when i mention rubicon, my thinks tahoe, which is nice because she is all for it.  but when i say hammers or moab, she thinks ugly desert.  anyways, thats just my thought.

High lakes is only good in the winter, as long as RAMROD isnt there because if hes there then it blows.

Not only does the highlakes completely suck, theres no way more then 10 people can even fit on that trail.

CJ has been trying to talk him into Hammers since the first year we were out there.
Marlin knows things have to change with the current arrangments, especially after this year, and they have already started to do some brainstorming as to how to proceed with MCR7.

Amen to that.  Even with my breakdown I had a fantastic time at MCR6, but with that many trucks they have reached a need for a new level of organization.

If it is going to be at the Hammers, the date will have to be changed. It is hot down there.

As far a 4-Dice, where the dance, food, and vendors area is private property. A deal would have to be made with the owners.

Sierra Trek may be changeing location next year as far as the camping and food and vendor area.. I am still waiting to get offical notice.

I say Moab its only like 5-6 hours from Denver  and its a little more centralized than cali.. so you might get more people.
