Dusy is way to small and long.  There is not a place to have that big of a crowd

Rubicon is an awesome venue but the trail definately gets backed up. I don't think Barrett is an option as it is WAAAAAAY too small to have that many rigs on it. Besides there isn't much room around the lake. I doubt Dusy is an option as there isn't a centralized meeting place.

I wouldn't mind seeing something local (Fresno area). Although attaining a permit for a large event in the area is near impossible, you could still do a gathering but it takes some planning as the stipulations the FS has in place are tight. Anyway, you could setup @ the Moon-light base camp (plenty of tow rig parking and camping) and just have scheduled runs out of that area. Bald, Coyote, Mirror, Swamp, Brewer, and even the top end (the fun end) of Dusy could be run in a day no problem. Then have the dinner @ base camp. Plenty of wheeling and tow rigs @ your campsite.

While  I would love to come to cali and run the rubicon with everyone, as has been stated before, problems are starting to creep in. For a large number of us, the trip is VERY long, and the amount of time spent on the trail, vs the time travelling, is short. Space is getting limited, loyalty of friends, while a very good quality, is keeping more people from being able to enjoy the reason for the round-up; meeting and getting to know other marliners. To me, the point of the round-up should be as much the meeting and fellowship of friends, as it is wheeling. A central, accessible gathering place where groups could wheel out and back, would give people more opportunity to get to know a wider range of wheelers, not just one group wheeling in together, and the same group wheeling back out together.

While i would like to see a site more centralized, if the round-up is back at the rubicon next year, i would still try to attend. But definitely keep it where it is, if Marlin would not be able to attend at a site farther away.

Another good idea, would be to start, as was demonstrated this year, regional round-ups, and keep the MCR just as it is. Kudos to those responsible for getting it set up and carrying out MCR-ARKANSAS. While the southeast is not represented on the board with a large number of users, we are beginning to get some areas opened for off-road recreation. Some of these would be suitable for area marliners to come and enjoy a long weekend of recreation, together.

Just a few thoughts, i'll shut up now.

I think that MCR7 should be held in another state like Arizona. I don't know why I'm thinking Arizona but they do have some great trails there. :gap:

I still say the con.... especially since I should be able to make the 6 hour drive down there this year.... hammers would be cool but a lil too far for me since I already make 4 or 5 trips a year down to SoCal as it is and I just dont have time or money for another..... I say rubicon...

I vote for the Con.

Moab would be cool too, never been there yet.

The Hammer would be great, but my DD/trail rig isn't locked up and would probably have to become a trail only afterwards. And my cage rig doesn't have a dual case in it yet. Altough it might by the end of the winter.

rubicon. fordyce would be cool to. though i havent been to the hammers yet i think it would be over whelming trying to hit that up twice in one year. i dont see it happening. i think the cons the perfect place for it.

is there a date set for the roundup this year?  i'm guessing its going to be the same time as it was last year, being its usually around marlins b-day.  just thought i'd ask.

rubicon no doubt, its already been there six succesful years in a row and its the most famous and one of the most beautiful trails around, along with good space, and a setup event area(the spring)  really it doesnt get that clogged at all compared to every other weekend there these days.  Beyond the rubicon, Hammers would eat most of the trucks that go to the roundup alive(no offense), and moab is a long ways away for most toyota owners.

Moab or the Con for me I am trying to get a convoy coming down from BC and Alberta Canada.  Either way its over 1600 miles and just under over a day of driving non stop.
