Fire Restrictions: Due to extreme fire danger the fire restrictions have changed as of August 6, 2007. As of August 6, the only facilities still exempted from fire restrictions are those that have running water and a host. See order and exemption list below for specific information.Restrictions can vary from forest to forest check with the local forest where you are traveling for their current restrictions. If you have questions regarding current restrictions on the Eldorado and their effect on your plans please check with any Eldorado National Forest office. How are Fire Restrictions Determined? Fire hazard is determined by the fuel moisture content in an area (the amount of moisture present in the surrounding trees and brush) and by local weather patterns, which include the temperature, the prevailing winds, and the relative humidity.Current Forest ConditionsThis winter the Eldorado received less than 50% of it's normal precipitation. This is the earliest the Forest has ever entered into fire restrictions. The forest is dry and it will only become drier as the summer season progresses. Please be very careful out there. Do your part and pass this information on to your fellow campers.
