not gonna go efi, i dont want to have to go to the smog referee.  and its  california, we probably arent allowed to run propane on the streets. there are probably 50 laws ppl made up because that would allow for one more person to have fun in this state. and we all know thats now allowed.

Scroll down to fuel type. Propane is legal to operate.

Fix it up and do it right!  How bad you damage the Dodge?  Fixable?

Do, like I'm doing, just take the motor out and do everything right!  That way you do it once!  It's taking me forever to get my truck going!

And I don't think propane is legal on then hwy in California, it's been covered before.  Only delivery trucks I believe are the exception.  That page lists the gas types the deq can test.

I fixed my dodge and convinced the insurance that someone vandalized my truck and loosened my lugnuts, so i dont have to pay for the $5k in damages to the camper.  and my insurance doesnt go up.  the update on the toy is:

How much does a used japan motor cost?
Where can i get one in town?
And can i get one that will fit my 81 style 22r?

Ive decided taht to rebuild it and do it right will cost about $1200.  figure its about $600 for a japan one and i can swap that and use teh rest of the cash for a new tranny and clutch.  after that i got to replace the cat and it better pass smog!

Dont get a used jap motor! The jap motors aren't as powerful and have lower compression. Get a 22R and stick it in.

I never had a 21RU. They are  not that good of a motor from what I've heard.

so there is no way of escaping the 800-1200 price range for rebuilt motors.  do it yourself for the same price either way.  is that 1220 from all engine exchange including the core cost?

Hey guys.  I finally found someone with a good price on a rebuilt 22r.  Anyone ever had any dealings with Rising Sun Engines Inc.?  Good, bad?

Im saving my $$$ and after xmas i should have enough to get my rebuilt engine, rebuilt tranny, and new clutch.  Hopefully i plan to have my drive train done by feb and have it smoged and on the road.  Hope you all had a great turkey day.
