Also bought some sliders....welding those up was some work, since I used mounting plates and gussets, but it was well worth it.....

82juguete

then I went ahead and took it to the dunes...well aware that I would only be able to run in 2wd since my front driveshaft binds too much when it is in....

This is what happens when you have to keep your foot in it all the time to avoid getting stuck

I guess the stud on the stock steering arm sheared off...not too surprising

82juguete

sooo...had to find another way home

at least those tow hooks I installed have already come in handy...both to pull my ass out of the dunes, and to chain it down on the trailer.

Wheelin on the beach You lucky son of a fill in the blank. Try that on the East Coast  :jail:

82juguete

So of course..the previous led to this purchase...

already got the arms intalled this morning

82juguete

And now I am tracking down power steering junk and an IFS box so I can finish the crossover steering....

82juguete

As for wheeling on the beach, It was fun and I was doing surprisingly well in 2wd...but Im not in a hurry to go back until I have my 4wd back...ahem...meaning duel cases to help my ds angle...ahem..Then I can at least not have to lay on the throttle so much risking breakage again because Im trying to avoid getting stuck....

ok..so the anti axle-wrap rod/sway bar, or whatever it is, which connects to the tower on the front axle has been disconnected since I put the new springs on, and I havent noticed any notable or concerning difference.  Seeing as how every single person who is running a front axle truss removes it, and that is a lot of people, should I hesitate at all to go hack it off??  I want to weld on a truss pretty soon anyway.  Are the people running trusses using any alternative methods that i dont know about to do the same thing?

I still have the mount for mine on my axle but I am planning on hacking it off one of these days. I dont think it is necessary, i barely noticed a difference beside a little more body roll in cornering. Cut it off and call it good.

Your truck is shaping up nicely. I like the front bumper, looks bad ass. That camaro race truck was sick!! Never seen it before. Do you happen to have any more pictures of it? I wish I had the time to cruise down south for some racing action.

yep..the mount for that rod will be coming off soon, since I have all my steering stuff out of the way now, too make room for a front truss...

I dont personally have any more pictures of the camaro...but this should satisfy.

Hopefully this mod proves to be useful to anyone on here with first gens with custom front bumpers looking to relocate their blinkers.

That's rad!!! Thanks for the tip! I never thought of that.

Thanks for the good word...and glad I could help someone out...

Now I have located the power steering pump, bracket, reservoir, and IFS box...but can anyone help me out with the tensioner or third pulley for the crank???  I dont want this to turn into a big deal trying to finish up this crossover steering, and spend all summer tracking down these parts because I cant even drive my truck until this is done.....thanks..

rednk1980

Let me look i think i have one of the tensioners laying around ill get back to you in a min.

Thanks jud...for my first time bending tube, I think it came out alright....Gave me some confidence to consider a cage in the rear...but i cant get ahead of myself here....I have to keep telling myself..ONE THING AT A TIME

82juguete

Not much going on now...just waiting on my power steering stuff, IFS box, etc. to continue on with this....In the meantime though, I figured now would be the time to shave a bunch of junk off my fromt axle and truss it. ( I heard the speed holes add 7 horsepower :eyebrow:)
So here it is now with the tie rod mocked up.

rednk1980

Lookin pretty sick there big guy! I looked again for that tensioner and couldn't find it any where i thought for sure i had one but i guess not sorry. Lookin good though.

82juguete

thanks...and its cool, im waiting to hear back from someone on here about the tensioner and the crank pulley, so helpfully that works out

Duffil

I haven't been able to scare up a pulley yet, but I have to go in there this week and dig out some knuckles, so I'm gonna keep looking.

82juguete

Alright...got some goods....just waiting on crank pulley, tensioner and some little things now

let the fun begin

82juguete

Now its time for some critiquing, or criticism...or just opinions
How does my tie rod/ drag link clearance look in this mockup???

How about the placement of the steering box?

82juguete

Does it need to go up more?  Keep in mind I dont have the pitman arm cranked down yet...Forward more?  Its as far as it can go without cutting the radiator support, and I have already done the new spring hanger and put on the marlin springs so the axle isnt moving farther forward anytime soon...

82juguete

Heres a rough look from the front... seem ok?

82juguete

Finally, anyone see a problem with mounting the reservoir here???  Where did it come stock, somewhere on the firewall???
