Year of this model 4runner anyone?
« on: May 14, 2007, 09:50:54 PM »
Guys,
I'm trying to help out a buddy in Spain. He's collected all the parts for the spare tire carrier except for the backing mount plates that go on the inside of the side panel. This model was never imported in Spain. I'm trying to find out what year 4runners had them so I can go to a dealer and track some down. Ideally a VIN would be best but I think that's too much to ask so I'd be happy with just the year. Have been to the dealer myself but they need more info, i.e. a VIN or the year, have also tracked the parts down used at a junkyard about 300 miles away but I think it's too small of an item for them and they've stopped responding to my messages.
Any help would be appreciated.

Plate locations are marked by green arrows.

looks like a 90-94. it would be nice to see the grill. i dont think the back changed at all either where it mounts (your green arrows). id just throw out a year, lets say 92? and youd probably be good.

Vehicle safety inspection regulations are super strict over there, if it's not completely stock he can't use it.

Best advice I've seen so far. That's a second generation 4Runner and they'd all be the same from start of the model run till the end.

Only 90 and 91 were offered with the factory tire carrier.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The body was beefed up on models thusly equipped - this is NOT a plug-n-play mod! For what it's gonna cost, you have a lot more options on the aftermarket that will give you an offroad worthy bumper too...

Your buddy in Spain hould hook up on yotatech - there's a guy on there named "Blizzard" that has TONS of info on modding 4Runners and getting through the beauraucratic bull crap they have to go through...
